  • If I were Anthropic I'd be looking at moving. It's plainly obvious that the US isn't stable enough for a business to count on not having the ground cut out from underneath them and the government is capricious and fickle. Hardly an environment that encourages investment.

I hear there's engineers in Canada as well, and the prime minister likes talking to people about opportunities. Just saying.

  • True. If I have to use black cable on positive leads I just put some red shrinkwrap on the positive end of the lead. I usually do black on the negative just to be consistent.

  • So was yours, Hillary. So was yours.

  • This is food BDSM.

  • It's a 100W solar panel at 27V. I don't think it's going to blow up in your face.

  • Maybe give you the first but the US was taken completely by surprise and railroaded into striking Iran. The utter lack of plan and resources to pull personnel out after the strikes makes that obvious.

  • Good for you. If the way Windows behaves now doesn't drive people to Linux, they'll never jump. They'll just keep taking the abuse because they like it.

I don't understand starting out on Linux in an immutable distro, but maybe that's the oldhead in me, I've been on Linux since the 90s. I find adding software in those distros to be a massive pain in the ass, as well as dealing with its constraints on configurability. But if it's working for you, fill your boots. Welcome to the dark side.

  • And they'll be twice the cost of Chinese panels and they will lobby for tariffs so they can charge triple. And nobody will solar.

  • Is "glitch" now slang for shitting yourself?

  • Well, if masochism is your kink...

  • Of course they do; they don't want peace. If Israel isn't in a war, Bibi is heading for prison in his corruption trial.

  • Oh, bullshit.

  • Don't even bother reporting what Trump says about it. I don't believe a fucking word out of this administration. When Iran sits down and signs it, and we have third parties confirming it, I might buy it.

  • Donny, I got your number...

  • What's cool is that I can watch it build the feature in another page (actually, I have a ttyd session in the app so I can bring up a terminal on the Pi to work with Hermes or Opencode) and it will run pytests against a test instance of the service, then swap it into the production files and restart the service. I get about 2 seconds of disconnect where the cards don't update, and then I refresh the browser and it's live. If I don't like it, I can tell it to revert to the earlier commit or change things. It's magical.

Then I blew a hydraulic hose and went to bed. AI can't help me with that.

  • Those ones are nicer for getting the lineset the actual length you want instead of having to coil up the excess somewhere, if you have or can get hold of the equipment.

Price of vac pumps and gauges is much better than when I bought them to deal with our farm equipment. If your choice was to pay someone or buy the stuff to do it yourself, it's no question it's cheaper to do it yourself. Every job I do on a tractor would pay for the tools all over again, every job was $1000 before that.

  • Everything is pre-charged. It's easy if you're not an idiot. Hardest part is routing the lines through the house from where you want the head unit. Also, electrical if you aren't familiar with that. Site your outdoor unit to make that as easy as possible.

  • Nice. I did this last year and posted it here, too!

You should be using liquid-tite conduit for exterior wiring and to keep the kids from hanging from it.
