I've heard a theory of (grand)children of migrants paroting the people that were already there when their (grand)parents moving there, unaware of it because they don't realise they aren't seen as similar as people who were born there but have 'local' (grand)parents. Something like they try to belong but simultaneously believe they don't do that since they were born belonging there. But I don't know exactly and also might not even apply to Cuban Americans specifically.
This is one of the most depressing stories I read about the state of our planet in a while, especially because this is happening in a remote place.

I agree, but this argument only hold up in the big picture. Nature today, animals especially are hurting now. So are we. I think we have an obligation to future generations in terms of doing our best to keep the planet habitable and to all current lifeforms to stop making this planet such a shitty place to be (talking about both domestic animals that are factory farmed into food and wild animals such as these birds that starve to death because their filled stomach doesn't have any nutritional value and also can't leave their body).

Twitter's was so bad people went from 'X (formerly Twitter)' to :what used to be called twitter' all the way back to just twitter without the company doing anything after the rebrand.
Whatever works, I guess, actually in Dutch it is in a 'china-cabinet' (?) as in a closet/cupboard for fragile plates but i guess that word is so old it's not really something anyone actually anyone has like nobody has silverware for special occasions anymore.
