Gentle nerd freak of the pacific northwest. All nation states are vermin.

  • That's a trait of all fascist regimes.

The incompetence of hitler and several other key figures was hugely important in their defeat, mussolini never made the trains run on time despite the popular saying.

  • I'm pretty sure i saw this one! It was in the national museum in Taibei, Taiwan. Definitely worth the travel, an incredible musuem with some real treasurea. The Jadeite Cabbage, the Meat Shaped Stone, some real old bronzeware and the amazing paintings of Qing dynasty Jesuit painter Giuseppe Castaliglione.

  • Their names could only possibly be lefty and righty, surely?

  • Apparently the patient had once said that mashoki was a term of respect. My family's jewish, and linguists, so i've heard a reasonable amount of yiddish.

To me it sounds most like japanese, but the patient has never shown any famaliarity with japan or japenese.

  • They're describing blackmail, they're just too cowardly to name what they've described.

If someone has notes on the secrets of powerful people and claims to use those secrets to empower themself, that person is engaging in blackmail.

  • I think the NYT has always just been a mouthpiece for the elite. It has a class position much more than it has a political position.

As the US ruling class gives itself over to it's own unhinged stupidity, so goes the NYT.

  • Epstein is now widely acknowledged, even by one of his own friends and a current Trump official, as having used blackmail against powerful people — or, in the words of the New York Times, “keeping notes on some of his contacts” and “revel[ing] in claiming to know his friends’ secrets” and how they “might empower him.”

😂 God the NYT is such trash.

  • A patient i worked with did this a lot, often using same or similar sounding words.

Medical or technical things were often alosorous, usually too alosorous.

People got described as mashoki or mershoki - i couldn't tell which it was supposed to be.

There were one or two other ones that came up regularly and a host of one-offs. The only one-off i remember is that my smile was as lovely as a han-gono.

  • The fascist regime wants people talking about some racist meme and not their involvement in raping children or their illegal death squads kidnapping and murdering with impunity.

  • Yes the NSA illegally spies on whoever they want, yes plastic recycling is a PR stunt by the plastics industry.

However no, the lab leak theory of covid 19 remains unsubstantiated nonsense pedalled mostly by china-hawks in the US who think we have a slightly better chance of winning if we start ww3 now.

  • I hope it's not public. I hope the testimony is sealed in a vault for all eternity.

No longer having to listen to hillary was like the only good consequence of 2016. Please don't take that away, please don't give her a public soapbox.

We shouldn't have to suffer through both fascism AND hillary clinton pretending to have ideals.

  • if they can get ICE to follow the laws

They can't though, and to think that's a possibility seriously misunderstands the situation.

The point of a fascist death squad is not to follow the law. If they'd intended to follow the law, they wouldn't have created illegal anonymous death squads with no oversight and free rein to attack whoever they want.

  • NYT is such trash.

Still whitewashing the rambling senile narcism of a failed businessman leading a fascist regime as a planned "strategy" with "a cost".

Gaslighting is not journalism and neither is this.

  • You can be honest: you really want to avoid police involvement. You can ask her what sort of things she'd have to report.

I work in mental health and what she did - stopping to make you aware of what she would legally have to do before you trigger it - that's in our training.

You've hit on a very broken element of the system, and you're right to point out how useless throwing cops at a situation is without proper supports. Many mandatory reporters know this, and will try to make sure you don't cross that line unaware. None the less, she could face severe consequences if she doesn't report something.

I've seen a number of your posts, and i think you need more than just therapy - help to access rescources, navigate the maze of disability support, find employment and housing that fits your situation.

If you explain your goals, hopefully she will have some referrals or resources she can direct you to. It sounds like you know you need to get out of there, and you know you need help and time for that to happen.

  • Honestly I would eat cat-adjacent rice off the floor with my hands in a heartbeat. That part is almost as appealing as kitty belly. Almost.

But I presume this is from somewhere in asia with different cultural norms. Maaaybe AI?

  • Nationalize it. Take his company, his wealth and jail him for his crimes.

  • The top drawer is obviously A, so this cat has filed themselves under B, because is baby.

  • I don't think it's wise to believe tech oligarchs saying that orwellian surveillance tech cannot be exploited for orwellian surveillance.

Besides companies can just require employees to opt in - "we just built this fresh horror, how companies use it is up to them" doesn't really fly.
