Gentle nerd freak of the pacific northwest. All nation states are vermin.

  • Lol the gizmodo article about the preview of mythos has this incredible openly line:

If Anthropic is kind of like a kid at a Halloween party with a bowl full of spaghetti, telling its blindfolded friends the spaghetti is brains, European cyber agency leaders are like kids who are mad that they still haven’t gotten to stick their fingers in the brain bowl

Anthropic in particular seems to use "we're scared of what we can do" as their marketing strategy. So maybe this unauthorized use is real, or maybe it's just more PR.

  • If there's one thing fascism has taught us, the two are hardly mutually exclusive.

  • 30% of the adult population voted for trump in 2024.

If we lived in a democracy, that would be a generational level defeat that may spell the end of the party, not deliver full control of both houses and the executive.

It's just a bit rich blaming voters in an oligarchy with no real representative mechanisms.

  • Given that bluesky was hit a few days ago, could be a threat actor gauging the defenses/responses of 2nd tier targets. I wouldn't put it past musk to use ddos to generate bad press for non-x socials either.

Plenty of ways this could be worth someone's resources even if complete take down isn't on the table.

  • Tabletop rpg design uses the term "fail gracefully" to describe being able to still function when you forget the rules.

Older games used to regularly stop amd collapse into boring chart-reading and index-looking-up. A lot of modern games are entirely playable if you forget everything except the core mechanic.

  • once saw her as Bernie Sanders 2.0 but now think she's more pragmatist than revolutionary

What hot fucking nonsense is this? No shade on bernie but no one left of john mccane thinks sanders is a revolutionary. He's a pragmatic leftist who joined the dems for pragmatic reasons.

  • Slightly but significantly less bad. For now.

  • Post-war/crisis baby booms are likely a seperate phenomenon, there's some archaelogical evidence of them in similar situations - like in athens after the persian war there seems to have been a baby boom that helped fuel their rise to imperial power in the aegean.

  • Trump and musk show many traits of psychopaths, who tend to have a lot of children.

  • When standards of living rise, birthrates drop.

Western countries, japan & korea all have low birthrates and all developed them as av. income rose. China too but one-child made it a less clear example. Even within a society, middle and upper classes have smaller families than the working class.

Declining birthrates can't be fixed by improving living standards, but that's fine because low birthrate is a good thing - a sign of a society doing well.

If a high income/low birthrate society needs more citizens, immigration from low income/high birthrate areas is the only viable option. Endless expansion is a fools errand anyway.

  • He is not a republican asset, he's just a member of the ruling class. He's representing his class interest, not ours.

  • I do think it's a bad idea, even as someone who saves sex for committed relationships.

    • A lifelong commitment to a potentially disappointing physical relationship doesn't seem like a great plan.
    • Before sex, there's a lot of incentive to present your best self. Afterwards people are a more comfortable presenting more of who they are.
    • You learn a lot about someone's priorities, self-control, receprocity, hang ups, etc.

But if it works for you, don't let others talk you out of it.

  • I wonder how much breaking up the trump-epstein ring lowered the fertility rate of 15-19 year olds.

  • I think there's a chance this was the plan all along and the 'ceasefire' was just a PR ploy to avoid having to admit the tuesday 8pm deadline was just a bad bluff that everyone saw through.

Of course it's entirely possible that the us regime did desperately want the ceasefire to work and was just too stupid to realize that israel won't stop until they've created a crippling humanitarian crisis in iran.

  • Who's afraid of virginia woolf at portland playhouse.

It was incredible, as that play always is. The male lead outperformed the female lead, which i feel is less common than vice versa, but everyone was great.

  • Don't ask

    Ughhhh

    It goes...

Well i'm here (for work related garbage)

  • Any such article is a lie, those assholes knew exactly what they were doing. Most of the fascist majority on the court are active participants in the coup that brought this regime to power, the rest are sympathizers.
