    My mother also advised us that if we thought a bar was watering down drinks we should order black russians because vodka is more alcoholic but kahlua is more expensive. Also never buy white rum because you might as be drinking vodka - this was meant as an insult to both vodka and white rum.

  • Power. Men are more privileged than women. The more power somehow has, the more they are shielded from the consequences of their actions and the worse their behaviour.

    I do suspect that overall men are alsi more likely to engage in violence than women, but i haven't checked data to see if i'm wrong.

  • Tabletop rpgs are the only artform that merges artist and audience. Telling a story is probably the oldest human artform. With a well-designed RPG and a good group you can tell a story and thrill yourself at the surprising outcome. It's a unique and timeless hobby.

  • Fahrenheit is demonstrably better for describing temperature as experienced by a human.

    It's just not though. F uses a wider range of numbers to describe common outside air temperature, but more numbers =/= better.

    I've lived in both F and C countries and farenheit is not easier, more intuitive, more sensible or better in any way. A number is a number. The extra precision of F is not super useful - no one can really feel a 1F difference. The freezing point of water does make a huge difference, so knowing above/below zero C is useful, but above/below 32F is no harder.

    This argument that F is somehow more suitable for human temperatures is something you see online, but as someone comfortable with both i can say there is functionally no difference, except that metric is compatible with the rest of the world.

  • Abolishing ICE is just basic common sense.

    The senate though? Yes, it gives way more power to less populous states and that's a real problem.

    But a country where populous regions can completely run roughshod over everywhere else is not a stable arrangement, and not a just arrangement. Over-representing minorities prevents harsh majoritarian rule.

    Every other light bulb joke i hear, the number is arbitrary - it could be 10/100/1000 with no loss to the joke. But "none" and for that reason is the only possible correct answer to that joke.

    I dunno, he signed a contract to be a client of a lobbying firm. That's not foolish. He's contending the firm never did the work they promised and didn't have the claimed connections.

    The courts legalized corruption and the regime has made it clear they're selling pardons. It's super reasonable to expect to buy your way out of a problem like that.

    Experts in the field all seem to think it's fairly obviously not profitable.

    Gas stations changed their branding overnight, the business only incorporated June 23rd, and no one can say who's behind it or who is covering these losses.

    It's obviously some shady BS from the trump regime, trying to minimize the impact of their fuckups in iran.
