Gentle nerd freak of the pacific northwest. All nation states are vermin.

  • Excellent commentary about the way that amazon directly lies to it's customers - amazon is so heavily enshittified, it's not surprising they're down to straight up lying.

I also wanna mention this mistake from the article:

a yoghurt flatbread filled with rum bananas competed with Bundaberg banana toffee rum liqueur, bananas, oatmeal and waffle seeds, tossed in Davidson plum sugar.

Waffle seeds do not exist. Given the combo of native and iconically australian ingredients that should be wattle seeds, often used to give desserts a nutty flavor.

  • I blocked like that on reddit but here there's fewer users so I have a higher block threshold.

Plus I want to give people credit for choosing to be on the fediverse - that earns almost everyone a "well maybe you just had a bad day".

  • "In the third picture, [trump]’s wearing light pants and there’s a stain on the front of his trousers,” Wolff added. “And the girls—three, four, four or five as I remember—are pointing at the stain and laughing. And that is what I remember.”

  • Oh! I never got that expression. But I'm a loud and proud type. With so much misery in the world it seems wrong not to revel in the joy of a good fart. Like throwing away dinner during a famine.

  • Wait she farts sideways? Like it comes out of her hip? That is news!

  • Capitalism isn't what's crashing out the United States, it's these fucking monopolies and mergers.

I've got bad news for you about which form of social organization promotes the growth of monopolies.

There have been a handful of examples of breaking up monopolies but even then the general trend was still increasing consolidation of money and power in fewer and fewer hands.

AT&T was a great example of a step back from the capitalist hellscape we're being pushed into, but there were two steps forward before it and another two after it.

  • This sounds like a dopamine issue.

For me, I just accept it. I ride the wave of motivation whether it takes me to the epic gaming session I'd hoped for or a bunch of menial tasks and low impact internet comments.

Sometimes what I think I want to do isn't what my body is going to end up doing, and that's just how life be.

  • Not only has Donald trump raped children, there's a lot pointing to him being involved in smuggling them in to be raped by others as well.

  • The results of the election are not an accurate representation of what the country thinks.

  • ☺️

This kind of "dumb-dumbs voted wrong" attitude always feels widely off the mark to me. A bit elitist but mostly just inaccurate. I've been trying through a bunch of comments to think through why.

  • The current fascist coup in the US is not the result of a free and fair election.

Decades of gerrymandering and disinformation within an electoral system that was never designed to reflect the will of the population, combined with illegal vote buying schemes, foreign interference and the combined wealth of Russian and American plutocrats intent on an authoritarian state got us here.

The US didn't vote itself into this situation and no amount of taking voting seriously is going outweigh the power of armed wealth.

  • Important story, thank you for sharing it but that's not a website I'll click to.

  • We say "giblet the baby". After our first cat got really into a cat food "with giblets" we started referring to any of her food as giblets, mostly so we could say the word giblets a lot. Eventually it came to mean all food when used as a noun and to feed as a verb.

  • Nope, abduction is a magic speciality that prevents you learning alteration or illusion spells.

  • Not only did the two guys in charge run a ponzi scheme and steal $16M for their own use, but they claimed a cousin of one of them who was in on it had "over 10 years of experience managing multi-million-dollar companies", when she was in fact a substitute primary school teacher and radio station promoter.

There must be so much of this kind of grifting going on at the moment that people are getting away with.

  • Adams’ name will still be on ballots this fall, since he exited the race after a deadline to print them.

That's funny. Every vote for Adams will be a mistake, as was always the case.

I imagine that he's currently having a cry about what stephen miller's wife's bagman has told him the regime wants him to do next.

  • "bizarre" or a font with serifs would have saved us all some confusion.

  • Information should be a utility, like water, phone or electricity.

Ideally there should be publicly owned tier 1 ISP, but failing that there should be minimum standards of service provision like with other utilities.

  • I dunno, fascism always requires an already vulnerable mostly fictional bogeyman to easily attack. Trans folk are already one of the most murdered groups in society, small as a % of the population, and often not highly visible.

That makes it very easy for republicans to demonize trans people with fewer of their audience having personal experience that contradicts the fictional account presented.

It also helps them police gender in a way that bolsters their anti-women agenda.

I think the anti-trans component is very useful for their fascist project.
