  • I give exactly zero fucks that she’s a woman. I don’t think a woman in charge would be in our best interest. I don’t think a man in charge would be in our best interest.

We need a leader who has the actual ability to evaluate the system, figure out what’s broken with EVIDENCE, and can articulate it.

  • Clinton was old guard. Harris was more or less trying to be a continuance of the same damn thing. I’d like AOC to at least be on the primary ballot.

  • No. Run AOC

  • mis amigos

  • Luigi is in jail bro.

Do you mean Mario? Wario? Waluigi?

  • Cars are more complicated now, but generally safer and less prone to rust.

It was mainly a dig at Subarus because they are pretty widely known to have had head gasket issues.

Presumably you’d clean your engine bay first and make sure there are no fluid/exhaust leaks

  • Motor oil? What are you cooking on, an early 2000s Subaru?

  • My experience was with C#. What’s your language and which IDE do you use?

  • Hey, he still has South Africa, right?

    Race ya!

  • Sorry, I meant that it is not just a governmental issue. It’s Musk’s idiocy.

  • Point of order: Musk is an US citizen with additional citizenships in Canada and South Africa.

Citizenships are rather hard to revoke in the US, and it is generally immoral to leave someone stateless. However, treason is one such way to get ones citizenship revoked.

We should get on that while he still has Canadian and South African citizenships.

  • This is not an DOGE problem. It’s an Elon problem. See: Twitter firing the only people who knew how to keep it running and Tesla firing the profitable supercharger team

  • Apparently my state is lagging behind the times

  • Sounds.. typical. The last one is really why I don’t like TurboTax to begin with. But I don’t know how to find a tax consultant so… TurboTax it is for me

  • So I did consider that before going with the VM. My big issue with that is that it looks like a lot of sensitive information is stored online, whereas TurboTax stores my information on the local machine and only transmits as needed.

Any feedback to the contrary would be appreciated

  • Yeah I tried vscode but it’s just similar enough to vs yet different enough to be frustrating

  • I really don’t like Microsoft, but the two products I think Microsoft got mostly right are Microsoft Office and Visual Studio. I really can’t find comparable products.

Open office and forks feel like Microsoft Office 97. While usable, it takes me twice as long to do things. I would almost prefer to use a LaTeX editor over word. Excel? Idk

From a business perspective, it doesn’t make sense to switch to libre office. W10 support also ends 10/25. It is highly irresponsible for an IT department to continue to use EOL products so they should be changing to W11 and new Microsoft office

For individuals, I mean…. I just installed a W10 VM to give me more time to find a Linux compatible alternative to turbo tax and to use visual studio so idk

  • It’s not THAT bad. Certainly more complicated than before. I don’t think it requires that much upkeep. But this time around it took around 1 month to get it stable. Then I’m coasting for the time being.

But yes, unless you have a specific use case or strong desire, dont.

Email is so important. If you don’t have a stable way to do it and something goes down, you’re SOL and you are responsible

  • Can you send mail through each email? I had a catch all forwarder before but it l had to reply with a different email, leading to occasional issues.

That’s basically the reason I have a server. I can set up forwarders between my wife and I, and if I need to send mail as kobra@domain.tld, I can just set up the alias and send it.
