  • Oh no, it's actually an example of the ridiculousness of TV crossovers. Maybe 90% or more of the connections are subtle nods by writers or directors to other shows to be funny. I think a couple are just re-using the same props for invented products. Very rarely are they intentional.

Yoyodyne just as a funny, not real aerospace company name, gets used in Star Trek as a typically non-visible text on panels. I first heard of it from The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonsai. I'll sure the books by Pynchon were influential sci-fi read by people working on those, and no one ever thought it would be used for some 400+ show/movie crossover list.

  • Ahh! Whatcha am I gonna do when they come for me?

  • Easy: Tommy Westphall Universe

Buffy. X-Files. Battlestar Galactica. Batman and Superman and DC JL. ALF. Dr. Who. Firefly. Heroes. Bewitched. Knightrider. Power Rangers. Red Dwarf. Mr Robot. Star Gate. Star Trek.

All the same universe, my friends.

  • The Commons.

    Damn tragedy, I tell ya.

  • I used to write technical stuff, like research reports, professionally. I have a few funny ideas or concepts that I feel I could do justice, and found that once I had some time, cranking out an outline and just adding flesh to the skeleton was sort of fun.

  • It's a combination of inflation and shrinkflation combined that makes it a lather-seeming difference.

  • I will agree that what you remember from those shows isn't quite how they are.

I loved the "Real" Ghostbusters (based on the 1984 movie) cartoon. Thought it was brilliant. Scary, funny, everything in between. Had some of the toys.

Watched an episode a number of years so, and I was shocked at how bad everything was. Jerky animation, terrible dialogue, a plot that made zero sense.

  • Conspiracy theory nuts start to get big bucket things right. Like a giant cabal of child sex traffickers running global political and financial systems, including Hollywood.

I mean, it's pretty much just that one so far, but damned if that wasn't an evergreen theory over the last few decades.

  • I was about to fire a guy that saw the writing on the wall and retired early. Everyone loved him, but he was terrible and just getting worse every day.

    "You're unforgettable!"

"You've made an indelible mark on us all, and this place!"

"Your replacement will have an incredible job ahead of them!"

I did thank him. A lot. I loved that he left!

  • This is true and real righteous anger. I love it.

  • Please learn from my spouse.

    1. Vomiting in the morning may be a sign of Helicobacter pylori infection. Not everyone is affected the same way, and it's a very common infection. My spouse and BIL both had it. He got ulcers. She vomited every morning. 2 weeks of big deal antibiotics ended it for both of them. Life has been better ever since.
    2. Early Perimenopause can and does happen to some people AFAB. But everyone AFAB will experience it one day. The Ologies podcast did 3 episodes recently about menopause and perimenopause. Please listen! Even if you aren't in it now, one day you will be. Might as well learn about it since you'll have to advocate for yourself to doctors.

  • It's sort of amazing how many people literally voted against their own interests, and got what they voted for, and now they're upset. WTF did you actually want?

  • I get that. 6 was almost really great at being what it really was, a long, depressing slog. Which it should have been. But that makes the clunky episodes just heavy and bad. Plus the transition from network to network... Ugh.

    Musical was absolutely peak.

  • Season 2 is rough, and season 6 is a bit too depressing for me. 3, 5, and 7 are great.

  • A bit longer ago than 15 years, but Buffy the Vampire Slayer is 8 seasons, 6 of which are perfect.
