What do you know, the treasonous lech who is somehow president, Donald J. Trump, is not having much luck convincing the world to ignore his Jeffrey Epstein forbidden files of mystery. Why is everybody so interested in an allegedly multinational secretive little-girl-sex-abusing cabal of billionaires, so boring! He’s only been whipping his followers up about it for years.
The Epstein Files drama seems to have not affected Trump’s already low approval rating one way or the other, and among self-identified conservatives his approval is actually UP a couple of points. True cultists have doubled down, because in a cult there’s only do that or admit you were wrong and leave, and they’re as stubborn as they are stupid.
No one on the Supreme Court has gone further to enable Donald Trump’s extreme exercise of presidential power than the chief justice of the United States, John Roberts.
Roberts upheld the first Trump administration’s “Muslim ban” on the grounds that the president’s national-security role precludes courts from taking account of the bigotry undergirding an immigration order. He remanded a lower court’s enforcement of a congressional subpoena for Trump’s financial information, writing that “without limits on its subpoena powers,” Congress could exert “imperious” control over the executive branch and “aggrandize itself at the President’s expense.” He has come close to giving the president an untrammeled right to fire any officer in the executive branch at will. And he took the lead in inventing a presidential immunity from criminal prosecution that could exempt the president from accountability for even the most corrupt exercises of his official functions.
To capture the current drift of public opinion, Trump is near the disapproval levels Biden was at on the eve of his catastrophic debate performance in June 2024. That was after three and a half years. Trump is at six months.
It’s one of my governing beliefs that you can’t transform a state like the American republic from a civic democracy to an autocracy or competitive authoritarianism if a substantial majority of the population opposes it. And there’s no question that substantial opposition is what we’re seeing.
What’s clear is that Trump has no intention of tamping down the politics of provocation and aggression toward domestic enemies. It’s against both his political goals and his temperament. It’s just as clear that these policies are driving ever greater levels not only of opposition but intense opposition.
Videos have flooded social media showing Ice agents wearing masks over their faces, detaining people without immediately identifying themselves, refusing to answer questions or explaining why people are being detained, and pushing them into unmarked cars with tinted windows.
As well as the tens of thousands of arrests, there have been several reported cases of masked criminals posing as Ice officers, such as a man in Raleigh, North Carolina accused in January of kidnapping and raping a woman, threatening to deport her if she didn’t comply, or a man in Brooklyn attempting in February to rape a 51-year-old woman. In April 2025, a Florida woman posed as an immigration officer to briefly kidnap her ex-boyfriend’s wife from her job.
DARVO (an acronym for "deny, attack, reverse victim and offender") is a reaction that perpetrators of wrongdoing, such as sexual offenders, may display in response to being held accountable for their behavior. Some researchers indicate that it is a common manipulation strategy of psychological abusers.
