  • Not really. You can use crypto to make non-criminal transactions too. You sound exactly like EU politicians, "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear". Are you saying that you don't need privacy with your transactions? If privacy is outlawed, only outlaws will have privacy. And it's the same with crypto.

  • My own domain name, on which I host a whole array of services (such as this Lemmy server). Bitwarden is also cool, I pay for it even tho I self host it to support development. But even if one doesn't self host, it's still worth it. Only 10€ per year for such an epic service. A VPS at Hetzner is definetly worth it. A relatively cheap service for all the stuff you can do on it.

  • Yes, this! Also, I have a fear of that I could have just appeared in a simulation, with all of my memories preloaded. It feels so eerie not being able to know if I appeared right this second, or if we're in a simulation or not.

    Actually, the probabilities that we're in a simulation seem quite high. Imagine a universe, where there are 10 technologically advanced enough civilizations that start simulations. But why would the start just one simulation? Why not millions of them? And then the people inside said simulations also start them. So all-in-all, there are billions of simulations. It would be more probable that we're in one of them, rather than that we're in a real universe.

  • Good point. 2FA is quite useless if you have a randomly-generated 256 characters long password for every service. I guess Bitwarden is worth it for the advanced security reports (it costs them money for this) and supporting the devs?
