  • Moved A Few Things into New Affordable Room. Woke up to Bedbug. Should I stay or leave?

  • Man, that's tough. I dunno, I found a single, live bedbug in my apartment once on my computer desk. I killed it immediately and blood came out, but then I never saw another one again and lived there for 2 more years.

    Since your money is tight, you might want to get out before you incur fees and owe rent. Did you get the place through an assistance program? If so, I would notify them about the bug as well.

  • Bed bugs are BAD. Where was the bug when you found it? Was it on you, the floor, your stuff? Was it alive or dead? Could you stay there a few more days without bringing the rest of your stuff from your friend's place and see if more bugs appear?

    Bed bugs spread quickly and can travel on you or your clothes and infest other locations. That being said, it may have just been one. Then again, if it came from the apartment next door, more will likely infiltrate your place. If they are coming from next door, it won't be enough to spray just your apartment, the entire building will need it.

    Sorry for the difficult situation you're in, this is a tough call.

  • I've sort of always believed in reincarnation, though I can't recall the first time I was introduced to the concept. I feel like the universe is very cyclical, so why not reincarnation? Although I guess I'm not sure how much of us gets "carried over" into the next life. What makes us "us"? What part of us would be passed on to the next life? I definitely feel like I've been here before, though it would be hard to explain why, and perhaps I'm just mistaking that feeling.

  • No, but I can tune out some noises better than others. There are some noisy situations in which I simply cannot get through even a single sentence.

  • One of my aunts became one out of high school. She married some guy who was also into it, they had 2 kids. The whole family was basically shunned by the rest of us because of it, and she died in her 40s of a very rare form of cancer. I haven't seen the kids in probably 30 years now.

  • There's a camaraderie with the other soldiers on your platoon that happens when you're in the military that I've never been able to feel with any other group of people since I got out. I would really like to be able to experience that again, but minus the war part.

  • First make sure you rip all the stems out and are eating only the leaves. Then I saute it in a light coat of olive oil and with garlic and onions, or steam it. I think the real trick is to not overcook it. Don't let it cook for more than 5 minutes. You don't want it to get squishy and boiled down like you do with spinach, it's not the same thing as spinach. It should still hold its shape somewhat after cooking.

  • Hah, that was me. People would find out and feel sorry for me but I was like nah, it's actually been amazing and we're both so much happier being divorced.
