My username is a wordplay on the Linux command filesystem check: fsck.

  • What I don't like about this is that the paddle jumps to where you tap after you let go. I expect it to be more of a relative control, rather than absolute to where you touch the screen.

  • I didn't say the theories are racist, I said they are founded in racism.

A large amount of the ancient aliens stuff stems from Chariots of the Gods? by Erich Von Daniken, who is very clearly racist.

If we look to von Däniken’s work, there can be little doubt that his racial beliefs influenced his extraterrestrial theories. After a short stint in jail for fraud and either writing or appropriating the material for a number of other books that developed his ancient astronauts theory, von Däniken published Signs of the Gods? in 1979. It is here that many of his racial views are most boldly stated. British archaeology officer Keith Fitzpatrick-Matthews points out on his Bad Archaeology blog just a few of the many racist questions and statements posed by the author: “Was the black race a failure and did the extraterrestrials change the genetic code by gene surgery and then programme a white or a yellow race?” He also printed beliefs about the innate talents of certain races: “Nearly all negroes are musical; they have rhythm in their blood.” Von Däniken also consistently uses the term “negroid race” in comparison with “Caucasians.”

  • The ancient aliens theories are founded in racism. Just cause they were brown that doesn't mean they weren't sophisticated and needed help from aliens.

  • Do you get one free meme when you fill all the panels with useless watermarks?

  • You seem to have an uncanny ability to be immune to underestimation. If you look back over what I said without the veil of selfishness, it would be plain that my issue is with you being inconsiderate and rude by posting porn in an inappropriate place and following it up with a facade of remorse, not because of pedantry over the rules.

It seems fitting that you jumped to the conclusion that I was calling you puny in particular, even though I was describing people who find joy in a sad attempt to needlessly insult other people.

Do I think I am superior to others who find joy in hurting others without warrant? Absolutely. Anyone who invests even a mere modicum of effort in trying to be a decent person would very likely have a decent argument for that claim. I'm sad for you that you seem to be unable to do so yourself, but more sad for the world that has to bear your presence anyway.

  • You're missing the point. I'm not chastising you because of the rule alone.

    I already said this before:

That allows people to expect not to randomly run into porn

Do you think everyone is okay with just having porn on their phone out in public?

  • It's your obligation to make sure you abide by the rules of the community when you are participating in it. So, yes, a person should assume that the sidebar is read. I can understand skipping reading the rules when you are making a normal comment, but if you're going to post literal porn, then you better damn well check the rules first because most communities would not allow it.

It's not naive to hope a message gets across. In fact, I said "hope" specifically because it's not an expectation, as they've shown evidence to not care about others. Though, it's odd they would waste their time with a meaningless reply to my comment if they at least didn't care at least a little; thus, the hope.

Lastly, I hope you realize how much of an ass you've made yourself out to be considering how you've made apparent your capability of being ignorant and hasty. Particularly in that you did not even fully read my username and instead assumed you know what my username is. I suggest you familiarize yourself with Linux, on top of your clearly dire need to learn how to not jump to conclusions and out yourself as a fool. However, I'm confident my hope won't be met with a positive result, since your comment serves no purpose other than an attempt to be rude for fun. I pity puny people that placate their propensity for pleasure by pathetically peddling pejorative speech upon other people.

  • Bad joke in the wrong place. It's clearly stated in the community that NSFW content like that is prohibited. That allows people to expect not to randomly run into porn when they don't want to. Yet here you are shoving porn into people faces against their will. "Other people like it" is not an excuse for selfishness like this.

You say "sry" but you still don't remove your comment and the fact you don't even bother to spell out the word belies that sentiment. I hope you see how bafflingly rude you've been here.

  • Why the hell are you posting porn? Did you actually think that people would like that? Go back to 4chan.

  • Could you please just spend the 5 seconds it takes to get the original image instead of one taken by screenshot that has an overlay on top of it? I'm tired of seeing your posts with the same overlay. It takes effectively no time or effort. I would rather have fewer posts on Lemmy than lazy posts like this.

  • Data breaches are already commonplace, though. People don't really care about that, so news outlets don't care to cover it.

This is vastly different and would be a new thing that everyone would be interested in hearing about. So many people think that this is happening, but have no proof. They would love to be able to say "See! There's finally proof! I told everyone!"

  • It can be proven, very easily. All it takes is a little bit of IT skills and a basic understanding of networking. There are also immense amounts of incentive to prove it. Your information would be spread across every news network, and you'd be able to use it to sue any business that does it.

So, the only reason it can't be proven is because it's not happening.
