  • I'm not pro-gambling but I think Vegas vacations are valid - they're special occasions where you get a thrill for your money. What's the difference between a $2000 cruise and a $2000 weekend in Vegas? Both are a waste to me but I see the appeal.

    But this is different...it's very much NOT about Vegas (which is struggling), it's the apps. "Sports betting" aka gambling was legalized in 2018.

    DraftKings and the rest have been fighting regulations since like...2012? And they won. Which is why there's gambling ads everywhere with very little regulation. It's why polymarket and kalshi exist.

    Regulate these internet gambling companies back to the 2000s and the problem mostly goes away.

  • Great catch, I didn't know about that rule. Though my intent isn't necessarily to get it banned, I'd prefer the owner see the error in their ways.

    Wholly agreed on the last point. I'm very against even RSS bots because it kills discussion 99% of the time. People DO reply but I can't be the only one who has something to say but doesn't comment because ...there is no OP to read it.

    Not to mention that people post things they find worthwhile and bots post....everything. No filter, no accountability.

  • I used to make peanut butter with unblanched/unroasted peanuts (+salt+honey) and the skin pretty much gets blended. I hadn't even considered that until now!

    But blanched peanuts roast better. I think that's the real reason you do it, if you roast raw peanuts the skin turns to shrapnel
