  • I am not convinced this is better than other options. On LinkedIn people inflate their credentials heavily, no one will want to appear "poor" or in a bad job on there.

  • I feel for the first reason! I was able to switch with my wife from Whatsapp to Signal but thats about as much as is possible. And we both have to still use Whatsapp because of others.

  • Sorry, why would you use this app if you only use the messaging part? Not sure why you call it p2p, the media you transmit is likely sent to Snapchat servers before it arrives at the other person.

  • ...inconclusive because they are assholes.

  • I mean that's just regular banter.

  • Oh jeez. I mean very cool one can do this at home (even if still pricey) but the usefulness of this is very much overstated here.

    Quote from the article:

Which variants do I have? Which genes and pathways are affected? Which medicines might I metabolize differently? What rare variants should I take seriously? Where does the model know nothing yet?

Aside from the last question, if it were THAT easy to get definite answers, don't you think someone would have commercialized it already? These questions answered correctly by just sequenced data are what scientists would like to have. But biology, genes, signaling pathways, are hugely complex. I doubt this dude has anywhere near the scientific knowledge to make any sense of this.

E.g. you got a variant of a gene that makes it more likely for you to get a certain cancer. Well, the increase over healthy people might be less than 1%, so what now? You may never suffer from this at all during your life time.

If that was the whole reason this dude went through all the effort, then I don't know what to say. Additionally running it through AI models, have we not learned anything from 23andme selling genetic data? If the whole reason you do this at home is "control over data", you just missed the whole point when asking Claude why your tummy aches after eating your fav food.

Edit: additional lmao that shows me this dude has no scientific background

This is intended to be read by AI- please just copy and paste the URL of this and have ChatGPT walk you through it. If you have AR glasses, even better, since the AI can walk you through the whole protocol.

The whole text that follows IS essentially a lab protocol. I am a scientist, this is how we note things down. Well, except for stuff like putting gloves on. You don't need AI to tell you anything here, you just read the protocol and follow it.

  • How do you "configure it to provide better results than Google"? Not trying to call you out, but I assume your measure of what is better is highly subjective. If it would be down to simple config changes to get quality superior to Google search, OP wouldn't have to ask this question.

  • Was probably 3 days of a manager asking engineers to do it then 20sec of work done at the end of the

    End of the what?

  • Sorry, got nothing to add to your question. Good luck with the switch to Linux.

To everyone else: if you are still wondering why in 2026 it is still difficult for the average person to just "switch from Windows to Linux", just read all the comments here. I mean, I guess mostly the ones that are not deleted yet.

  • To add to that, at least the average meeting I am in, people don't look much at the chat. The meeting organiser might, but that is also not happening too frequently.

  • The identification was confirmed by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) ahead of a bid to recover the body from Everest's notorious 'death zone' at an altitude of more than 8,000 metres.

After 30 years! I wonder why they finally decided to do this or why it took so long to get approval.

  • It shouldn't

  • Also Sweeney "why do people like Steam more than the Epic store?"

  • Of course chatbot use is rising when every shitty website replaced their support pages with one. What else can I do but use the stupid chatbot?

  • Looks like Chile.

  • Controversial opinion and I say that as someone who started with Jellyfin and keeps that local Wifi only, so I admit a certain bias: going with Tailscale and Jellyfin over using Plex isn't much better. Instead of enabling remote access via one company that wants to make money, you go via another company that wants to make money. How long is the free tier of Tailscale going to work out? How much do you trust them with your traffic? But I know it is a popular setup, so I am aware saying that here will not earn me any points.
