  • There are a lot of other ways in - hence the disagreement.

In my city in the Southern USA, "game" is rarely if ever taught (except in the context of short form) and formats like the Harold are almost non-existant.

I have friends in the scene who tell me they're happier without any game in their work at all.

There is a large chunk of narrative or similarly structured (montages, Spokanes, la rondes...) work

  • Improv: should you lead with character relationships, game or platform? There are many vehement proponents of each, each claiming that their process leads to better improv.

Character relationships are self explanatory, "game" is kinda like the core conceit of the sketch - i.e. in "who's on first" the "game" is "names that sound like pronouns", another common one is a pile on of identical characters (i.e. the SNL Jim Carrey family reunion where all his family have his mannerisms.

And "platform" is where you build the world and the scenario (i.e. we're Goombas that live in fear of mario; we're merpeople with a foot fetish... or more seriously - the family that runs this farm, the employees that work at this hotel...)

  • just put milksteak, she'll know what is.

  • "peaches (and cherries/berries) jubilee" is probably what you had

  • I've (40s M) been the victim in abusive relationships with women in my past. More common than you think.

It sounds like Gottman Rapaport therapy, which focuses on exploring how people can communicate and love each other better would be worth looking at? It's not like tv couples therapy.

  • i bet you could do a reverse of that scene in the wire where they've got a guy hooked up to a photocopier that is printing out the word "lie"

  • the messaging strategy. Press releases, bylines, interviews, media appearances, the media training that goes along with it, and the messaging to say.

  • some pr firm found the line works in whatever context and is selling to them for $20k/month

  • I checked both AP and Chicago style guides

  • They couldn't even get a copywriter to proof "hanged" over "hung", which is to be used when talking about the method of death.

  • Robert's gonna take 5 episodes to even mention his name, I can feel it

  • I myself love anything that pushes me to intensity. Where it's peaty scotch, sardines, rich dark chocolate

  • oh its weed. I was wondering why you would apply chapstick in the event of the president dying / leaving office.

  • reality is also written in c, just a different c

  • "is there a doctor on the flight?"

"yes! two glasses of picpoul de Pinet please"

  • can i do a name drop? I did 2prov once (improv with only 2 people) with Dan, who plays Strax.

  • I'm 42 and happily married; the "rule" of half-your-age-plus-7 would put me at 28–70, which I don't think would be too crazy, but a little weird. I'd probably be more comfortable at 31–55. But also as a bisexual I feel like you could lineraly interpolate a spectrum of gender so the older they are the more masc they present and the more I am attracted to them.

  • maybe - maybe if they could make it good enough. But right now they're struggling to

    • make two actors appear in the same scene, while keeping the same clothes and characteristics
    • say the line that's given to them without changing it
    • add any emotion whatsoever
    • speak or act in any negative way
    • portray crimes
    • keep the same voice
    • not move their mouths in unison when someone else is speaking
    • make any kind of unusual movement
    • keep objects from disappearing
    • not make objects they're talking about appear in the scene
    • change volume
    • use the correct eyeline (look at the right person, not look down the barrel of the camera
    • not phase through solid objects

and that's before you even get into things like subtext, irony, sarcasm, equivocation, stylistic choices, accents...
