  • Sounds like you got banned from places that wouldn't be worth hanging out at in the first place. Fuck em ¯(ツ)/¯ if someone is that quick to get triggered by a gesture of disagreement, they couldn't possibly have a worthwhile community under their watchful gaze.

  • I really despise these food delivery apps . To me, it's already expensive enough to buy fast food (or fancier food) in the first place. But to nearly double the price you would have paid, all to avoid walking or driving down the street to get it? I mistakenly assumed that it was doomed to fail when i found out how ridiculously overpriced it is (not to mention, you have to tip them on top of all that?!?).... I mean, good for the people who need to make the $ at least (while they still can, it seems inevitable that robots/autonomous vehicles will eventually capture this money-making avenue as well)

  • That was a fascinating read! The 2 accidents surrounding it were very interesting to read about. They were both basic human mistakes that led to the ghastly consequences they unfortunately produced. The 2nd accident though, by Slotin--that was hubris. How could one have skirted such simple safety protocols? Dude was controlling a very very very powerful experiment with a screwdriver in his hand being all that stood between the team of scientists and a staggering amount of radiation... Then it slips! 👀

  • I always felt American car companies were a really good example of that back in the 60s-70s when enormously long vehicles with giant engines were the order of the day. Why not bigger? Why not stronger? It also acted as a symbol of American strength, which was being measured by raw power just like today lol.

    This also reminds me of the way video game programmers in the late 70s/early 80s had such tight limitations to work within that you had to get creative if you wanted to make something stand out. Some very interesting stories from that era.

    I also love to think about the tricks the programmer of Prince of Persia had employed to get the "shadow prince" to work...

Even in this article where all the allegations are pointing to the very good possibility Israel forced Trump's (tiny) hand--his response is to say that he forced Israel's hand. Knowing his incapability of telling the truth but his penchant for polar-opposite lies, it's at the point now that i feel you can predict the truth of his statements by simply working out whatever the opposite of what he says may be.

    I try to use eBay as an alternative, though i find every 3-4 orders i place there, i get one in an Amazon box that by all rights appears to have been shipped by Amazon. I swear people are drop-shipping stuff from Amazon to their eBay buyers.
