  • To really drive it home, we could cure cancer with MRIs, at least on paper. Give everyone a full body scan once a year. It'll find every little cancer so it can be taken care of when it's early and easy.

    Can't do this for two reasons. There isn't enough MRI capacity to possibly do it. Even if there was, MRIs will pick out every little thing, and there isn't enough doctor capacity to investigate every little thing.

    Degrees Celsius is based on freezing and boiling point of water, so if they came up with a base 10 numbering system and water is key to their biology, then they'd probably come up with that.

    A calorie is the energy needed to increase the temperature of 1L of water by 1C. A liter is a volume of a cube 0.1m on each side. The meter was originally ten-millionth of the distance between the equator and north pole (and subsequent redefinitions are based on that original measurement). They wouldn't come up with the meter, and they wouldn't come up with liters or calories, either.

    Will the Romulans see this as potential Federation subterfuge? They may not be willing to allow Star Fleet ships to go in, at least not at first. Romulans won't really care if the backwater planets of the Neutral Zone get pillaged as long as their sovereignty isn't otherwise being challenged. Klingons won't care until something makes it their problem. They might be itching for a fight, but they won't throw themselves into a war with the Romulans without some kind of plan, and massing up in the Neutral Zone would cause all sorts of problems.

    Once everyone is on the same page, it won't last long. A Galaxy-class starship is powerful, but not that powerful.

    Strong, across the board tariffs are something that only Trump wanted. There were two dueling arguments in Project 2025 on this. One wanted the right-libertarian solution of no tariffs at all. The other wanted some tariffs raised on specific things. Neither wanted high tariffs on every country for everything.

    It is a solution Trump has personally proposed for a long time, He thinks of himself as a unique economic genius; the only one who sees how tariffs could work. He doesn't consider at all that tariffs used to be a common solution and were abandoned as an economic tool by everyone for a reason. It can be a tool for international politics, but not economics.
