There's just one little hurdle: choose an instance when joining. Maybe it could just be some sort of "choose for me" and every instance gets equal new users, random. Of course with the option to "nope, I'll choose instance myself". Everything else is technical and a casual new user shouldn't be bothered very much by it. Some are very interested and dig in to the knowledge, some just want to scroll cat pictures and call it a day, and that is fine too.
She is willing to recognize the error and that is exactly what is needed now. Yes it comes from their selfishness but it's the best way to turn these people around: them feeling it themselves and finally connecting in their mind that voting for this idiot = everything is getting crazy more expensive. Not sure if she should be made fun off for finally seeing her error. The more people feel okay with having been wrong, the better the next vote might be... while there still is voting. Making fun of them will make other people dig themselves even deeper in their trenches of stupidness?
I think even both teddybears and soap are quite regulated markets in EU, could probably require a capital to enter the market a lot larger than you would think, to get anywhere beyond the local flea market level of sales.

The German car manufacturers are hopelessly late at EV because they wanted to drain every last penny out of their ICE. The EU setback to extend ICE is after German car manufacturers lobbied... They are killing themselves in the long run, for bit more production in the short run. They saw this all coming decades ago and made wrong choices. Now they're fucked. The Volkswagen id (EV) sales numbers are so disappointing they had to lower production and make employees stay home.
Deflation is bad. Then people stop spending, postpone all purchases, economy grinds to a halt, people lose jobs and companies go bankrupt.
Hyperinflation is bad. Then people spend money like toilet paper: money becomes worthless. No one has anything left to invest or to save for pension or a big plan or dream.
The general goal of aiming for about 2% inflation is basically just there to try to prevent those two worst case scenarios from happening. It's the least bad of all evils: money sort of keeps it's value, evolution of product prices are rather predictable, people know what they will be able to buy with their wages. Inflation is not inherently tied to capitalism only. Socialist/communist economic experiments experience very similar phenomena.
"trick some of them accidentally" is definitely underestimating average users. In my experience 95% + of all users click consent once, all is stored forever and they'll never see the banner again, for sure not on the same device. They don't do adblocking, no automatic cookie deleting, in fact no browser extensions at all. The average fediverse user is a weird mix of a 1990's internet poweruser with a today tech kid trying to make it into the future technologies on their own terms and by faaaar not an average user visiting average website on average devices with average browsers and configurations. In short: most people don't experience this 'problem' like us, because they consent by default to anything you throw at them and are then in the gated tracking paradise where there's barely any cookienagging, visiting the same handful of websites all the time anyway.
Because cassette tapes were awful, fast declining quality, tiny picture + tiny booklet if you're lucky. Discman was awful while cycling to school, potholes causing interruptions... The mp3-player 256MB was a really cool innovation! Enjoyed that supermuch. Went through batteries FAST tho. But vinyl LPs... Is just different. It was never meant for on the road scenario and the size of the 12" sleeve just makes for a really cool collection of pictures alongside the cool collection of music. I still enjoy playing vinyl while I find it is the ultimate album experience. You get nice sleeve/context, sort of forced to listen album a to z and always dead silence in the end instead of some algorithm or autoplay making everything a never ending stream of best case 'related' stuff but more common the next sponsored crap being pushed on you...
Plastic kitchen tools like a spatula, made from any kind of plastic, will break down mechanically and in high temperatures. Always. It can't be good to eat plastic, i'ld rather avoid it. Wooden kitchen utensils of course suffer similar issues, but I'm a bit more fine with ingesting tiny pieces of wood once in a while. If I can, while tending to my food, I will always use glass, metal or wood instead of plastic. But you do you, plastic is cheaper... It's not poisonous by the way, but is can be carcinogenic. Yes, arsenic is deadlier than plastic. That does not mean ingesting plastic is healthy.
Fair enough if it's decaying in many ways! I had gotten the impression it would be just for the usb-c only. In my perfect world many electronic appliances would also be forced to be a minimum level of repairable and have replaceable batteries of course. Possibly only "professionally replaceable", but not glued in and/or artificially made as little repairable as possible.
Logical things I think it could or should become the norm as well: electric razors, vaporisers, head-flashlights (like Petzl), many kinds of toys like RC cars and such, christmas lights, Halloween decorations etc etc.
It think in many cases it will usually be a lot more ecological to use devices you already own as long as you can and keep repairing them if possible. It's nice to have usb-c, but throwing out a fine, still functioning toothbrush to replace it by a usb-c chargeable model just for that reason seems to me like the opposite of ecological.
