  • Nice! I've an ML-1710 that is sitting in a closet that I'd love to get properly working on macOS. I've tried with SPLIX and followed the directions to the letter to install the drivers, but it just doesn't stick, in that I can only manage to get one print queue through the device for each time the computer is turned on. I gave up and repaired a junked Epson and put that into service, but I really prefer the formar printer for making line tenplates.

  • Let's hope the next President signs a few EO's that streamline the process of discovery on that.

  • Ahh. The Jack Handey School of Deep Thought..

"Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself. Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind." What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind."

Best to not overthink it. The really deep shit happens when you look at the world and it hits you as utterly absurd and instead of falling into nihilism or despair, you aim for the humorous.

  • I think the bigger problem with corruption in government starts with the public service to private industry lobbyist pipeline. There needs to be a full 25 year prohibition on anyone leaving the government and becoming a lobbyist for any industry they had a hand in regulating while they were publicly employed. There are wayyy too many people in agencies that soft-ball the application of the rules they oversee with the aim of getting hired by those firms when they retire. Got that one straight from an inspector who came to the ATFE from the IRS and saw tons of that behavior from their co-workers. Called it out on several occasions and found millions in unpaid corporate taxes. Those laws need to be enforced with teeth.

  • Unless the woman in question says they were taken advantage of or approached and pressured into sex.. it's kind of condescending to claim abuse.

As a former young woman, I certainly played the field and fucked a lot of older men.. and it was 100% consentual and if I'm gonna be honest about it.. those older men had mad skills.

  • They've got kids.. for sure Miller knows of his wife's past. Internship aside, at 22 Katie was a young adult and doing what she wanted. I don't see the scandal, other than the screaming bad taste in men. Eurghhhhh.

  • Bwahahahahaha! Never mind that there was an Israeli study done decades ago that found a higher incidence of Autism in children fathered by men over 40..

It was noticed by the IDF as it is mandatorily required that every young Israeli does a tour of duty in the military except for those with disabilities.. and at looking at the young Israelis that fell on the spectrum that were unable to serve, guess what was found? Older fathers. Enough so that it stuck out.

This fits with the incidence of autism in the well-heeled solidly middle class families where dad waited until he was set and financially sound in his 40's and married the fertile 20-something wife and all of the sudden, it's that demographic that first started noticing their kids had problems.

  • That. Is. Amazing!

I pulled up google images and the story doesn't do the actual park justice. Holy hell, did this guy do a ton of work! It's beautiful.

    Thanks for the article! :)

  • Nothing's stopping anyone from welding those bunker doors shut after they go inside to hide away...

  • "Hey... I didn't even eat the mousse!"

  • If only the Grim Reaper looked like Brad Pitt!

  • That is one damn weird looking Fox! LOL!

    I loves me the siameesesesss!

  • ..I'm concerned that my new address and workplace will appear on public records..

Generally that info isn't really easy to find if you aren't a property owner. Renters don't get listed as being renters as such.. what gets people in databases is using online services most often tied to property taxes (which you'll not be paying as a renter) and car registrations (if a loan has been taken out on the vehicle..) Where you work is only available if you make it so. No linkedin. No social media. Just put your head down and stay schtum about your new life.

If you really want to be invisible, you use the US Postal Service money orders to pay your bills and have a PO box for the return address. It's an archaic paper system and it actually costs for someone to access it, and they would have to have the money order stub in their hot little hands for the Post Office to search for it to track what money order it was and who the money was sent to and what Post Office it came from. And that is all they will get.. and as someone that paid for a search for a lost money order - it takes time because the Post Office moves at a snail's pace.

Getting your online profile reduced by stepping into the slow lane and pivot to the cash economy puts you into a much more privacy oriented world.

  • As u/IWW4 sagely stated, get as far away from them as you can.

When you DO land somewhere else, and start with a new job and a bank account - firstly, find a single branch bank to use.

    No large corporate bank.

When you open the account - do NOT - have it accessible online. NEVER make an online account for it. Have that noted ON the account so if your bank is discovered (this is why you use a small bank - it's just harder for family to find..) no one can get into the account. This removes the possibility of it being accessed from afar, even if the person HAS your personal info. You do all your banking in person.

Secondly, pivot to using a secondary account at the bank, and that is what you tie a debit card to and you go in and top it off as you need. If you have credit, lock it down.

Get a new phone number and keep any pictures of yourself in that new location off the net. Consider also witholding where you are from family or friends that brother and parents may also know. Just make the cleanest of breaks and shut or lock down anything in your name that the relatives may try and access.

    Good luck.

  • The thing that I liked the most - and still do to this day - about Snow Leopard, is the Disk Utility.

It's got teeth in a way that every DU released since Yosmite does not.

I've used it to reformat and repartition newer drives that have for some reason, code on them that stops the newer DU's cold.

Perhaps something tied to the system and the restore volumes?

I have no idea, and yeah, one can use the Terminal to get to the drive tools but one shouldn't have to.

SL's Disk Utility doesn't give a shit about who, or what, owns a volume.

If you want it gone, it's done.

  • LOL! Fuck, its been that long.. you grew up so fast~!

  • No, it is not free, but the financial fucking that comes of not voting is even more expensive and that is what people need to focus on.

  • Oh that's a bit defeatist.

Are we forgetting the sheer breadth and nature of the precedent that Trump is setting with his Executive Orders?

The next President can use the SAME power to claw back a lot of the taxpayer dollars that has been grifted from the public.

It should be a question asked of every Presidential candidate: Will you use the now expanded power - thanks to Trump - of the Office to reclaim taxpayer funds illegally taken by the prior administration?

Any candidate that waffles even a bit on the answer, is out.

  • we ALL shoulda done that.
