  • okay, but where are your balls?

  • Phasers are super versatile but they need to be programmed. That's not something you want to be doing on the battlefield - which is why the default function is "point and click to shoot".

And most of the time we see phasers used - aside from the occasional stone heating or vaporising - it's in a battle situation where reaction time matters. Tuvok had a moment to set things up, but in most other situations, that moment might be deciding if you live or die.

  • TBF, that might've been true in 2017. But nearly a decade has passed since, and that's basically two lifetimes in software...

  • You can buy ESP32 boards with built in DACs, just FYI.

Also there's a handful of Pi Zero shaped ESP3 boards as well, which you could use with the existing DACs.

But again my point was that Sendspin requires even less hardware than Snapcast (and while technically you can indeed run Snapcast on an ESP32, last I checked it uses up a lot of resources, making the ESPHome given extras like BT proxy and usage in real time BT based location, unusable).

  • I am using it on a handful of devices (mainly voice interfaces), and it's quite seamless, even in the beta stage.

Not up to Sonos level controls yet, but it's getting there slowly. Music Assistant is gaining a lot of UX improvements recently, so it will be soon a viable alternative to not just SnapCast but Sonos too.

  • And you did it all in time just to have it be upended by SendSpin - which can even run on an ESP32 level MCU so you don't even need a Pi Zero.

  • Good. Anything that hurts Israel, gives Palestinian citizens another day to breathe and live.

  • Time to spin up dozens of shop fronts selling cheap made to order MAGA crap. Hell, have AI generate new merch that looks trumpish enough to sell...

step 2: no "???", just profit

  • No, Jesus turned water into wine.

This was more like turning wine into milk then trying to age it.

  • Are there no vehicle taxes in the US?

  • Except when I bought my lifetime it meant lifetime for the SERVICE, not the app...

  • But for now, Traitor in Chief will do.

    Or Cheater in Chief?

  • Not to praise a republican, but a wake-up call style "oh I've been voted out, okay, let's listen to the people and do in my leftover days what they want me to do" would usually mean a level of self-reflection.

Not in this case, because here it's obvious he doesn't give a flying pigeon shit about his constituents, but at last a politician realising just a smidge too late that they were wrong is still better than a headstrong one eho refuses to see reality even on the way out.

  • I also "love" the general American attitude - everyone else either works for a living or should starve, but the moment they're hit with unemployment without a safety net, these very people become the "welfare queens" they constantly complain about.

Besides, this isn't 1920 anymore. "Rugged individualism" isn't the goal to live for. We live in a society - shocking, I know! - and this society shall always be built upon kindness and inclusivity and equality. That means no family left to fend for themselves, no children left starving in school, no person left without a roof over their heads... Making food a human right isn't that hard to do, and interestingly it's only the US and Isn'trael who vetoed said UN motion. I mean just consider how much food goes to waste every single day (and I'm not even talking about accidental waste like us ADHD enjoyers do, buying a tray of strawberries only to promptly forget about them and remember only when they've grown a winter fur coat and are ready to leave the fridge), and consider just how many farmers there are out there who would rather let all of that go to waste if they don't get paid for it.

imagine how easy it would be to have all the leftover be bought by the government, and distributed to locations in need. Or how easily the local government (mayoral level) could confiscate housing that should be utilised but is staying empty purely because the landlord is a twat and won't rent it out under market price...

But then again the US government does keep proving that it's mostly thuggish mafia the citizens can't trust, so not really surprised by it. Honestly, the US will greatly benefit from its impending collapse.

  • The only model that should have access to finances ever is one you host. On your own hardware, ideally in a container separated from the internet (one container pulling in your financial data, one container serving the AI model, latter without internet access, just getting data from the former).

  • ABS is for audio books primarily (though they did introduce EPUB support). Unfortunately the API isn't standard so you can't just hack it into e.g. KOReader (though I have been working on a plugin for exactly that)

  • USB tuner + Jellyfin.

You can also set up the IPTV stuff with Jellyfin (at least most likely, I haven't tried this personally), so it's all through one interface.

  • phone numbers were already an almost mandatory addition to new Google accounts. You need to set up 2FA when you make a new account, and the option to use an authenticator app is so well hidden... meanwhile Google still wants your phone number "to authenticate you", even though it's less secure than storing your password on a post it on your phone.

  • Okay so to quickly summarise: the octane number defines just how explosive the fuel is under compression. 100 means it's the equivalent of a 100% iso-octane mixture.

The more explosive the fuel is, the sooner it detonates as the cylinder compresses it. If it detonates too soon, at too low a compression, that's when your engine starts to knock. By adding ethanol you're increasing the pressure needed for detonation, ensuring that the ignition system ignites the fuel at the appropriate time, thus improve the engine's longevity.
