  • Promising, would need to supplement GV and Signal, but this gets me halfway there, thanks.

  • Unfortunately the whole point of my system is bridges/transports. I don't even use Matrix itself, I use it as a centralized messenger.

  • Overall I've been happy with Matrix (private not federated), but it's very convoluted. Whenever anything goes wrong it's really difficult to figure out why, as there is a lot of complexity. And once you set something up, it's really hard if not impossible to make a change.

For instance, since it's built for federation, changing the URL is impossible.

So I'd like to try out XMPP since it's much more lightweight and simple. I may not switch, but want to explore.

  • We dont know the whole story. The second driver might not have seen the chicken until it was too late. Nothing in the story indicates that the second driver purposely hit the chicken, but bear mace in an enclosed environment is no joke and can lead to permanent damage. Nothing about this story is "right".

  • Since the article doesnt provide any useful links: https://github.com/oliverbravery/PrintGuard

I just aet up Obico self-hosted via Docker, so I may give this a go in Docker running alongside it. Can't hurt to have two methods of failure detection.

  • ZFS is so.. So much better. In every single way. Change now before it's too late, learn and use the features as you go.

  • Here they are always on street corners. I never give money because I don't want to encourage unsafe behavior, as our streets are pretty high-speed. I would much rather provide to the shelters.

  • Sounds like daisy chaining uber-cheap LoRaWAN radios would be a fun hobby there 😉

  • It's Samba4, so really well.

  • And that you have the time to figure out how to do it right. (Because they pay you for that time).

  • For weather, the hottest/coldest part of the day are almost always around the same time. If you know those, it's pretty easy to say "the temp right now is the hottest it will be for the rest of the day", or "the high for today will be the hottest when we get there".

  • FreeCAD is what I've been using. Works pretty well for 99% of things, and good Youtube tutorials out there.

  • I used to be in this camp. xdotool was the solution for me.

  • I second Immich. Does this great, and the local AI mapping is pretty good.

  • There are lots of these? And if it's images, you could use Immich and it will find similar pictures that aren't exact, too.

  • This would be great

  • Seems like youre shooting these down without considering what the author meant by "program".

    • Create a folder called "My Channel"
    • Make a bash script that does the symlinks
    • Add folder to Jellyfin
    • Profit
