  • I am discussing it with the other mods, but they are all asleep right now since they're all in North America except me.

  • I really wish I could get this across to the FuckCars people in countries other than the U.S.

I just moved from Terre Haute, Indiana in the U.S. to Blackburn in England. The fact that virtually everything you need is within a half-hour walk, most of it much less, cannot be overstated. It's just not like that in the U.S. Terre Haute has something like 40% the population of Blackburn and driving from one end of town to another, and the shops are spread out all over town, takes 45 minutes.

  • The headline says they tried to save them and then the article is basically, "they could have saved them! Why didn't they save them?!" and then ends with "it wouldn't have worked anyway."

I think Screenrant needs to figure out what they were trying to say about this.

  • You do know the average priced car is priced above what the average American can afford to pay for it, right?

  • Today is Sunday. I woke up at 4:45 in the morning, It is now 20:44. I have spent the vast, vast majority of that time as I have done every day for the past three weeks since I got to Britain sending out resumes. At this point to every job recruitment agency in the UK that might use my skills.

Which is why I haven't posted a thing in six hours.

Do you know when I get to take a day off? When I get employed.

What did you do today that made you "normal" enough to lease a Tesla?

  • I didn't ask for an argument, I asked for an explanation. Apparently you don't have one.

  • It's literally in the headline.

  • I don't make the "normal" income threshold to lease a Tesla either.

Clearly I'm just too poor to be normal.

  • No, the most important element is that it is added after the fact. It is a *post-*production tool.

  • All I know is it's all classical music until one trip back in time to just after WWIII and then the Federation rediscovered Rock and Roll.

  • You can call that planted actors or audience participation. Which were things that were probably done long before him. But it's not the same as a laugh track, which is a specific thing.

  • I think you're being a bit pedantic. They didn't understand that they had any utility.

  • Sorry, but since when does "sounds like/has the same effect" mean it's the same thing? Is a recording of a trumpet played on a speaker next to an orchestra the same as a trumpeter in an orchestra even though the effect is the same?

Hiring people to laugh at your jokes is not a laugh track. Saying he invented the laugh track is just not true.

  • How exactly would you invent the laugh track if you didn't understand the concept of recorded sound since it literally requires recorded sound?

This is like saying the Mayans came up with the car despite not understanding the wheel.
