  • I don't think you comprehend exactly how large a number 7 billion actually is. There's plenty of innovation and art potential already.

  • I too came to the comments section just to comment on those beautiful old floors.

  • The aye-aye is weird-looking enough as an adult, but it looks like a Jim Henson creation as a baby.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

What's an animal that's MUCH cuter as an adult?

  • I was planning on making a separate post tomorrow asking the opposite ;)

  • Wild boars. We need an antonym for "glow up."

  • Turning old plastic into food? I've seen this one before!

  • USA here, and no. However he does look like a mash-up of several celebrities that I would recognize.

  • So while it sounds insane for detergent to label itself gluten-free, for people with severe gluten sensitivity toiletries, cosmetics, and other non-consumable items can still cause them symptoms with exposure, or so I've been told by someone I know with gluten intolerance. Whether this is an exaggerated concern or not, there is demand (albeit small) for such products.

  • I'm confused; how did this come to less than a dollar?

  • Idaho features beautiful nature and really interesting geology, so there's plenty of tourism potential. If it weren't for the people it would make for a lovely destination.

Ya got the lanky one, and ya got the stout one

  • I've seen this comic strip thousands of times too, it gets reposted so often.

  • Lower Decks was brilliant tho

  • I really enjoyed the books as a kid too, and was disappointed with how bad the movie was. But--from what I remember of the book--it was pretty faithful. I think the book doesn't stand up to the scrutiny of adulthood.

  • I tried visiting the website but it didn't seem helpful... Just a map of purple dots that don't do anything if you click on them (maybe it's a mobile problem? seems like a major oversight in that case, as most web traffic nowadays is mobile). Also no pinch to zoom?

    Am I missing something?

  • I think you missed the "ultimately inconsequential" part of the prompt...

  • Because most people don't believe it could happen to them or someone they care about.

  • Canning is great if you find yourself with a windfall of free produce. Otherwise I'm kinda inclined to agree: canning isn't worth it unless you enjoy the process and consider it a hobby.

  • I should have said they have their own type of sarcasm but it's different; you wouldn't, for instance, respond to a simple question with the obvious opposite of the truth (e.g. "I just love the cold" when asked if you like winter).

  • There are also a lot of non-native English speakers here. English is a tricky enough language when used sincerely, then add to that the fact that we English natives are huge fans of sarcasm, and I'm surprised misunderstandings don't happen more often. (I had major culture shock moving to Japan and finding out sarcasm was not really a thing there. I always assumed it was part of the human condition.)

On Lemmy, do you take note of the upvote/downvote ratio before clicking on a link, commenting, or voting yourself?
