  • They mention early on how an instance going down (or not cooperating) breaks the current redirect system is a downside of activitypub, but how will that change with LOLA?

However it works, I’m excited to see what they come up with

  • People? Some, but not a lot. Dogs, though? I recognize every dog on my street and know most of their names, even some of the ones I’ve never met lmao

  • I don’t know what their vibe is but I love it, we need more people like this in the world

  • Thanks!

  • I think it does, but the feature just came out and I haven’t interacted with it at all outside of seeing @rimu@piefed.social’s post yet so take that with a grain of salt

  • This would genuinely improve my faith in humanity so much if true, so I really hope you end up being right. It doesn’t change my outlook until then, but a little hope never hurt anyone lol

  • Campsites and portages are marked too, comaps is great

  • I mean, did almost 50% of the voting population elect Putin twice? Cuz personally that’s where I draw the line for blaming the entire country vs just the government for the government’s actions.

Worth noting though, blaming the country doesn’t mean blaming every citizen like you’ve implied - obviously a lot of people have done everything they can and aren’t complicit in this, I just think when there’s better than even odds that a random American either didn’t vote or voted for trump that a few good apples don’t redeem the bunch.

  • Unfortunately having access to all the pixels that make up a movie or all the words that make up a book doesn’t make either free, and the same thing applies to code depending on licenses

  • Piefed’s new “block posts in a subscribed instance by tag” feature could be a really useful thing for this if it spreads to lemmy and mbin, so that posts like these can be tagged “help” or something and people who are happy with rule 5 can block them

  • Of course, after all, Boeing investigated Boeing and found nothing wrong

  • How willing they are to talk to you right now. You can always pick the right person to talk to if you need to ask a question, give a friend the exact amount of space they need if they’re going thru something, and easily identify people that are interested in you (or not). Best of all, though, you can spot someone who’s a little too eager to talk and avoid a hostage-style conversation where they won’t let you leave politely

  • Every time you expand the spoiler, the text just says “I’m wearing a bomb, do what I say”

  • No reference to CXMT’s memory that’s just starting to be sold in western markets now, I’m very curious if/how that’ll affect things. If corsair’s cxmt kit can hold pricing steady, let alone drop it, for a 2x16 6000MHz CL36 kit then it could be huge

  • “Provide services to poor people” is really valuable and kinda covers this but it’s worth mentioning on its own anyway: a lot of libraries have tools and stuff you can borrow when you need something occasionally but not often enough to waste money and storage space on having it. Need a food dehydrator for the occasional camping trip? Waffle maker? Laser cutter? Amazing service for anyone imo, poor or not

  • Great news even if way late, and I’m happy for them, but wtf is this “article”? One sentence reinforcing the headline plus a screenshot with no further info or elaboration? Really hoping my adblocker has just blanked the remainder of the article and the author actually quotes the city hall at some point, elaborates on twitter being a Nazi bar for those who live under a rock, and mentions where the city hall has chosen to post instead.

  • Until OP answers, I’m imagining it’s whether they exist or not

  • This looks good but the readme gives major AI vibes - anyone know more about the AI usage on this project? I’ll trust a clanker with translating / formatting the readme but absolutely not with writing code to handle my files lol

  • That’s what 418 is for imo

  • Linux @programming.dev

Swap space on Nvidia VRAM, in case you bought a 5090 and now can't afford RAM

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

How does the modlog work across different instances and fedi software?
