  • I don't think accuracy is an issue either. I've been on the web since inception and we always had a terribly inaccurate information landscape. It's really about individual ability to put together found information to an accurate world model and LLMs is a tool just like any other.

    The real issues imo are effects on society be it information manipulation, breaking our education and workforce systems. But all of that is overshadowed by meme issues like energy use or inaccuracy as these are easy to understand for any person while sociology, politics and macro economics are really hard.

  • This would only work in a perfect capitalism but that's not our reality. Once a company acquires status that can control and drive the society the society has the right to correct for that.

    Apple was too greedy to the point where courts have decided that their greed costs society more than society gains from Apple. There's no philosophical binary formula here.

    I've never seen a cat owner who cares enough to even do that when we have clear evidence this works. The naturalist argument of "oh they are local animals" is such an irresponsible cop out where they can't even bother to put a collar on to diminish the damage. It's inexcusable laziness, nothing else.

    That's simply not true. There were never as many outdoor cats as there is today and cats used to have natural predators everywhere to keep environmental balance which is lost today. Keeping all of your pets indoors (or at least backyard) is the only ethically viable position.

    I disagree tbh. I'm a software dev with 20+ years of experience and I think most coding is not very difficult relative to other jobs. The problem is that coding requires specific motivation because the information breadth is insane compared to other professions and that becomes incredibly overwhelming for many people are not stubborn in a specific sort of way.

    I think you have a point here regarding corellation between low-quality questions and people "who don't want to be here" - that's probably true.

    Though people generally really suck at describing their issues and that goes way beyond code. LLMs are making this even more apparent because a dude who can describe everything is having a great time and others just yell "LLMs suck and have no value" so the difference is crazy.

    There's something with our society where introspection and detail is not natural and very difficult to learn for some people.

  • tbh I see a philosophical problem of separating markup from programming. Creating object structures be it in Latex or html is essentially the same thing as creating code objects. Most high level programming is more about structures and "placing things around" than people like to admit and that's 90% of all programming today.

  • Writing html is absolute programming in 99% of the cases. You program the structure of a web page, even more so if you use templating or integrate structure with js functionality.
