  • Seems like we're in agreement here then that the issue is for-profit prisons not prison labor itself.

    What really americans are missing is the cost analysis here. I'm 100% certain that it would be cheaper for US to have federally run prisons exclusively and pay prison laborers min federal wage.

    The invisible crime costs in the US are absolutely insane and in no way inline with any other developed country. I was just reading front page story how a guy in San Frascisco is using movie prop paper bags (like paper bag but without the noise) to hide his 300$ worth macbook from being stolen. That's literally like less than 3 hours of avg SF labor being at constant risk.

    US prison system needs to be straight up reset from 0 - I don't see how anything else could work here as an outsider.

  • I don't particularly disagree with the ethics of prison labor tbh. Do you? I think the issue here is implementation not the fact that prison labor == slavery. Americans have private prisons which are fundamentally unethical making labor discussion kinda moot.

  • You control the score but not how its calculated. My score is incredibly high just because I'm on Linux with Firefox - how important is that to you as an e-commerse site admin?

  • Yeah I prefer underscores too but kebab case is definitely better for web and general ergonomics. Dash doesnt require a shift hold! Tho I still mix these depeding on tool or existing idioms. One thing for sure is that spaces and capital letters are stupid and we should do less of them.

  • The control is very limited unless you're enterprise subscriber and even then CF is super sneaky and doesnt actually report the real world. I had a few clients where they were clearly suffering losses due to cf implementation (you could literally see sales dip when cf is enabled) but they didnt believe me because cf dashboard doesn't report false positives or anything of that sort and they had no in house analytics to really understand the issue.

  • Nope. Cloudflare use a complex set of fingerprinting tools that determine security scores. It's literally social credit system for web user agents and the site admits have little control over that.

    That being said android apps are sandboxed and dont really have any capabilities unless launched. Still shouldn't be included by default but the impact here is definitely overexaggerated.
