  • To explain how utterly insane this is: the email requires a response by Monday. Elon Musk sent out these emails on Saturday Night.

    1. FBI primarily works on Top Secret missions, meaning they do NOT often read unclassified emails. Department of Energy is largely Top Secret (ie: Nuclear Weapons) projects.
    2. In these Top Secret jobs, it is illegal to say what you've done in an unclassified setting. So it isn't very clear how you're even supposed to write an email on what you've done, as writing such an email is literally illegal.
  • Free Palestine going full mask off. They don't even bother protesting over Trump or recent actions as things get worse. It was all bullshit.

  • Literally genocide.

As opposed to the fake over exaggerated genocide the Free Palestine protesters were uppity about. Let's raise you a real fucking Genocide.

    Both sides tho.

  • Learn about Venezuela.

They literally fucked up their own electricity and caused a widespread self inflicted famine. None of their rich stopped this process.

Under Venezuela it was a bunch of authoritarian socialists. Actually, it's closer to socialism under Trump now that he's talking sovereign wealth funds and buyouts of his closest billionaire buddies.

  • Or else what?

If there's no enforcement mechanism, then yeah the President can do it.

  • No.

The President and his cabinet is put in charge of these agencies by Congress.

Congress is too slow to lead agencies. The design of our system is for executives to lead, not committees.

  • Its all backwards.

We need to first build a group through action. Starting with a much easier protest, such as a large scale boycott and a pledge to support the boycott, is likely the first step towards actual organization.

We also should consider local forms of resisting, such as teachers deleting records of social security numbers (as ICE is now seeking to deport even on school grounds).

There is a lot to teach others and to organize over. But a fucking strike? The fuck? You reserve strikes for the most important and climactic events.

There will one day be a need to call for a strike. So I'm not against organization of that. But we are very, very premature to be talking about that.

  • If I strike, it doesn't hurt the megarich. A strike hurts my boss.

Doubly so because I'm in a small company and therefore my boss is literally the end of the chain.

Secondly, the middle class voted for Trump. Unless you convince them that Trump is a threat this call for a strike will only cause them to gobble up your job and make you homeless.

The website says only 10 million people, or thereabouts, are needed to make this strike successful. Guess what? We only needed 10 million more votes to stop Trump.

  • Organization is the first step but a general strike is stupid.

No one is stopping their jobs or risking their livelihoods over this. The election shows that there is not enough people who believe in the threat of Donald Trump. The next step forward is convincing people of the threat.

Strikes and the like are only useful if you have enough supporters. Otherwise the scabs will eat you alive.

  • Trump is backing Musk. So I USAID is gone overnight.

Maybe there will be some court cases but Trump owns security and Musk is in charge of personnel now.

  • We need to practice our arguments and make it clear that Trump's Tariffs are to blame for the economic hardship we are all about to face.

We also need to prepare arguments that show how Trump's handlers benefit from this. Elon Musk is going to get richer from something here and we need to connect it.

Stellantis is ex, one of Teslas biggest EV rivals but now is going to be hurt by these tariffs more than Tesla.

  • And you still don't get it.

Republicans can do that because their argument is that government doesn't work. Democrats are the party of Government can work.

It's easy to torpedo and filibuster when you don't believe in the system.

  • No

Next time I remember that there is no one pure enough for you fuckers even when we are facing down Donald Trump.

Enjoy Trump deporting Free Palestine protesters dumbass.

  • Well let's start building that majority who can actually show up and vote. And maybe next time don't weaken your own candidates.

  • Who should control tariffs?

    The House is Republican

    The Senate is Republican.

    The Courts are Republican

    The President is Republican.

It's a sweep from the top down. Good luck. Next time win some politics before complaining. For now we just gotta sit tight and take it.

Even if Biden and Co passed laws to change who controls tariffs, the Republican sweep would have given them those levers of power anyway.

  • Whataboutism.

That has literally nothing to do with the tariffs here.

  • Congress never had control of tariffs.

  • What do you want Democrats to do about this? Presidency has control of tariffs, always had.

  • Catholic Church is reasonably based.

My fellow parishioners however are closer to the asshole priest than Church level officials unfortunately .

Pope Francis is an ally we need for these times.
