I don't think either the people that OP is referring to or your post are right. There are multiple tens of millions of Americans who did not vote for that man and want no part of the hellscape.

Maybe they are onto something here...

I weirdly see a lot of these "yes...but..." Comics everywhere and I don't get like 90% of them tbh.

It's honestly pretty good even though it's rather simple. I look at some paintings from like the middle ages and wonder why no one seemed to actually learn to draw until more modern times. But there was definitely an artist in this cave individual.
Bro wtf your dad is crazy lmao. Does your mom often leave things out like that? Myom will leave food out for hours after it is cooked and it will really bother me. She gets annoyed when I am always offering to put stuff in the fridge because "it's still warm" and "I've been cooking for 50 years". I don't fuck around with food safety.
This is one of the reasons why I keep a solid trash can in each bathroom (not one of those mesh wire ones). It definitely saves you to have a place to vomit when you're shitting yourself simultaneously lol. Had an episode of "both ends at once" last year!
Yeah, I personally despise cooking. I'll do anything to get my meal the quickest and with the least amount of effort and mess possible. I don't see the big deal. If people want to cook from scratch, go ahead. I'm just not going to be the one to do it. Why does it matter if one person prefers to cook one way and one person prefers the other?
Edit: If it's specifically pancake mix that OP's wife prefers, maybe there is something about the flavor that she likes better with it. My brother also weirdly prefers instant mashed potatoes over homemade...even if he is not the person making them. With certain things, some people just have a preference it seems.
Do you usually scan live babies or something? I've never heard of this type of thing for the living or for the deceased.
Are you still in the field or did you switch to something else?
Jesus Christ that sounds terrible. I get that community service isn't supposed to be particularly fun, but emotionally scarring people seems very counterproductive to the goal.
I don't do autopsies at my current job, but I have been trained to do so in school. Overall, I have not done very many autopsies at all in comparison to many peers in my field. I would not feel comfortable doing one on my own at this point due to lack of experience. I never really saw that many that were particularly sad tbh, but there were several that stood out to me.
- Someone who died of suicide. The autopsy itself wasn't overly depressing tbh, just fairly routine, but the person had left a suicide note. It was read aloud to us. To hear about all the pain that person was going through and to hear them talk about things about themselves that I knew were untrue really made me almost start crying tbh. They had family members who loved them, but they had felt that they were a burden to their family and killed themselves.
- A teen who died of lymphoma. I can't remember if they had just turned 18 or they were about to, but it was sad to hear of such an innocent life cut so short in such an unfair way. I have not done autopsies on anyone younger, but I know people who have.
- A woman who died suddenly around Christmastime of a pulmonary embolism. There wasn't much to the case that got to me, but I remember noting that her nails were painted in a festive red and green. It indicated to me that she had been looking to enjoy the holidays, but that she never ended up getting to experience them with her loved ones. When many people perform an autopsy, there is a distinct emotional separation many of us have from the decedent and a "real" human being, if that makes sense. But little things like that remind you that these were real people with real lives and real emotions and real hopes and dreams.
Honestly, most autopsies I have seen/done were on older/elderly people who either died of natural causes or alcoholism. There was also occasional drug overdose deaths who tended to trend a lot younger. It never made me feel all that bad if someone had died older tbh because they had a chance to live their lives. It's the younger ones that were always more notable.
Thank you for doing what you do. I don't know how you have the mental strength to do so.
OP, are you downvoting yourself?
Goddamn I can only hope he just forgot about the project as opposed to something bad happening to him.
Wait...feddit.de changed to feddit.org? What happened?
This is a comprehensive article! Thanks for the link!
Yeah I've always been a very casual Linux enthusiast (key word is casual) since I was a teen. Setup and things "just working" out of the box have absolutely never been the case, even in 2024, and even though people like to say it does. In an ideal situation on an ideal computer with ideal hardware, you don't have to tweak anything. But for most people, there are going to be some annoying issues and tweaks you have to work through.
If a Linux system has already been set up and tested for the end user, then it is a great alternative. But in my experience, these systems absolutely never work perfectly out of the box and it takes some technical know how to get to that point. Ever since Windows 7, Windows has "just worked" out of the box... especially because it comes pre-loaded on your device.
I have been dealing with some issues with my Bluetooth module in Windows. I had eventually solved the problem, but the fix seemed to have reverted itself somewhat recently. Annoyed, I thought I'd finally commit to a switch to Linux on my daily driver since my laptop doesn't support Win 11. Well, I chose Linux Mint since it doesn't use Wayland which for some reason has poor compatibility with my common Logitech mouse. Everything had been fine but then I found instead of the Bluetooth module crashing like in Windows, which just makes me have to reset the module, the entire system crashes in Linux instead and requires me to reboot it. Frustrating to say the least.
And then, as you've brought up, gaming on Linux is just generally not a good experience unless you have all of your games on Steam.
Linux can be awesome but it's absolutely not for everyone...especially people with less technical knowledge (unless it is set up for them), people who want something to "just work" without any fiddling, or people who do a lot of gaming outside of Steam.
Yeah I'm just confused. How would they know whether or not you're sharing your personal calendar with them?
I have tried a couple different things, but they haven't really helped me.
I started running back in March. I used a free android app called Just Run and I bought myself a cheap smartwatch to track my distance. Like the app suggested, I take 1-2 rest days in between each run day...which seems to help me stay relatively consistent in doing exercises because it allows for breaks. It was more satisfying in the beginning being able to check off days in the app, but even then it only does so much. It provides a brief distraction I guess. I have tried to continue it because it's supposed to be good for you regardless. Although running really does suck ass haha.
Recently I have been trying to take an OTC supplement called St. John's Wort. It is one of the few supplements that has showed statistically significant results similar to SSRIs in clinical trials. However, do note that if you take literally any other medicine, please do not take it. It interferes with basically every other drug out there. But if you aren't on any meds it might be worth trying. I haven't found a noticeable difference with it either after trying it for several weeks. But I just bought a "better" brand and am planning to increase the dosage a bit (I was taking one less dose than recommended on the bottle), so we'll see if it does anything.
So yeah neither of these worked for me. But I've read that they have worked for others. It doesn't necessarily hurt to try them. Except like I said, please do NOT take St. John's Wort if you are taking any other medication.
Yeah I think both are valid tbh. I get that a lot of people don't want to hear and and I get that a lot of people are upset. How do you compromise and help with both?
