  • Easier to actually have a conversation here. Even if you’re on /all.

Whereas on Reddit by the time it reached the main page any comment would be buried so deep you’ll never get a reply.

  • Fair enough.

I do think the visuals here were great. We had crips and bloods colours both sharing the stage. That’s a bold statement.

I’ll go watch the two you mentioned as I’ve not seen them. Although I’m not a fan of either of those people, musically.

  • Huh. I like Kendrick Lamar and found it awesome.

  • Again, I’m not so sure about that.

Take Macklemore releasing songs in support of Palestine like Hinds Hall.

This does not get shown in recommendations on sites like YouTube and is only really shown to audiences that support Palestine. Macklemore could have chosen to ignore this topic like most main stream artists, but he believed in what he wrote about and made the song regardless of how well it would do.

  • I don’t know about that.

Pop culture allows people with a voice/audience to have their say which influences the cultural zeitgeist.

Take Kendrick Lamar since I’m a huge fan and OP mentioned him specifically.

In 2018 he earned a Pulitzer Prize for Music, making history as the first non-classical or non-jazz artist to win. The Pulitzer board praised the album Damn for its “virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African American life”. Essentially, the album was recognised for its deep storytelling, social commentary, and innovative musical composition.

It’s incredibly reductive to label all pop culture as mindless drivel. When if you look, there are actually many artists who have a message to spread and are socially conscious.

  • Exactly. I’m a software developer and I wouldn’t ask this question on Twitter. Although I might not remember how to convert files from one format to another off the top of my head. I would just use a search engine or ask my boss or even ChatGPT. It would take me a couple of minutes to learn what tool I need to do it.

  • Not for soup

  • I don’t know about abuse but I do judge people with Teslas purchased in the last 5 years. Before that the completion was lacking and it was less evident to most people that the CEO is a cunt, but now even if you ignore Elon, it’s just a crazy purchase when all the other manufacturers have caught up in electric and arguably produce better vehicles with less issues.

  • Dude I was in Paris once in a taxi (cab) going over that roundabout and let me tell you French people are insane. It was just road rage and every person for themselves.

  • That sounds wild. I imagine it varies by state and some will be easier than others.

In the UK you have a lot of lessons and practice getting used to driving the car and navigating traffic, as well as perform some manoeuvres; for instance a parallel park and bay parking. We practice the emergency stop, hill starts, and roundabouts and more.

Then you have the theory test where they ask questions about signs and road rules etc. many are common sense but people fail a lot.

Then you have hazard perception where you watch videos and click the hazards before they become a danger. This is harder as you have to click at the right points.

All in all it’s rather difficult to get driving and I am all for it as it means people on the roads can generally drive.

  • Hey thanks for this. I wonder if I can sign up on the website and then login to the app. I will try that at some point today.

Much appreciated you updating me on this.

  • Yeah it must be a new addition. Big sad.

  • Yeah it’s just a non-starter for me. I already have to silence several calls a day as telecoms providers, UK at least, allow people to spoof their numbers. Like I want to give it to another company that’ll either sell it get breached and ends up out there anyway.

I don’t see this going away so might need to buy a burner phone just for receiving codes in the near future but it won’t be linked to me and it will not receive calls.

  • Not necessarily.

Roundabouts are used in area of moderate to high traffic where multiple roads meet and places where continuous flow is needed. Like motorway junctions. The junction near me is very high traffic, and we use a roundabout with traffic lights too. They can be less effective if the flow of traffic is heavy in one direction but not the other.

Traffic lights are used in busy urban areas where there are a lot of pedestrians or places with uneven traffic distribution. These can cause issues of slowing traffic in quieter times due to lights not really being smart and knowing when people are there.

  • Eww I just downloaded Claude for iOS and to sign up you need a phone number? No thanks.

  • I know this is memes but as a Brit, I’ll never understand how people are scared of, don’t understand, or don’t see that roundabouts are superior.

It takes a few goes in them during driving lessons and they get easier.

  • Or just a grifter that wanted the bag and found joining the GOP would do that as his audience would be dumb.

  • It seems insane to me that you would have ATC people working mandatory overtime. Like it’s a role that is very stressful.

  • You can, but I wouldn’t. Whenever I’ve looked at the permissions they want to send all key presses to a server. Like installing a key logger.
