  • You’re right I could be helping out I mom the open source side, but I really struggle to even turn on my Pc when not working (mental health) so don’t feel I am the best person to contribute.

This is why my focus has been on getting friends and family to stop spending money on streaming services as every little helps.

You’re correct in that the only thing that matters to me is that people I care about save money. That’s it. I’m in awe of people doing more than me, but we can only do what we feel we are able. Together it all makes a difference.

  • Didn’t know they were a thing and Voyager doesn’t support them.

As a software developer I’ve come to realise that most of the stuff I put extra attention to, actual users don’t care and now in just do what people ask for and nothing more.

  • My aim is to get my friends and family to stop paying for streaming services and if I have to pay for Plex to achieve this then that’s a win.

Jellyfin is nowhere near as feature complete as Plex and not by a long shot. My users don’t like the UI of Jellyfin and setting up for remote access is no trivial feat. With this in mind and my goals Plex is better suited.

So far have 8 users all saving £10-40 a month not going to streaming services.

  • I live in a massive city and you’ll see loads of people just existing all the time.

I used to think the same about bugs too but I see shit loads when walking near trees and in the woods or down canals. Even my car still murders 100’s on a commute to work. Headed you don’t see them in city centre but that’s just hygiene is better now. IMO

  • Lemmy bring biased again?

OP literally changed the title to include iPhone when the actual title from the link says screen recording.

  • Merely just naming the app, not here for a debate. FYI I used to own a Pixel.

I don’t care what phones you do or do not use as you shouldn’t with me. Got more to worry about than which evil company we each give our money to.

  • iPhone has an app aptly named Files. Inside here are files. Pretty sure it works the same on Android.

  • You do realise that when OP said “AITA?” it means am I the asshole?. Acceptable answers to this would be yes or no.

Anything outside of that is my opinion provided on a post asking for our opinions. Seems you’ve taken offence to this and that says more about you than me pal.

Edit: this is why I like to preach positive intent as had you’d done that you not be calling me out for giving my opinion on a post it was explicitly asked for.

  • It’s implausible that I would pay for Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, etc.

When I can just build a server and buy a VPN connection.

  • It’s futile even trying to highlight the things LLMs do very well as Lemmy is incredibly biased against them.

  • Yes you’re the AH. Even taking the kids out of the equation and you’re framing this as what you can get out of this meeting. That’s not a friend. Why not just say no.

She said that we should get coffee and catch up properly, and I was sort of down, although I'm not really that enthusiastic about catching up with someone I've frankly not thought about in a few years.

Yeah sod what the other party thinks s as long as you’re getting something out of it. I see this as wasting her time on someone who isn’t appreciative of it.

    Also, why mention baby daddies?

  • In the UK we have anti vandal paste which is a kinda gluey black tar to dissuade people from climbing.

  • We get clients that send us screenshots but they use their phone to photograph their laptop

  • Exactly. My car doesn’t have AP, but it does have a shed load of sensors and sometimes it just freaks out about stuff being too close to car for no discernible reason. Really freaks me out as I’m like what you see bro we just driving down the motorway.

  • Ironic considering you should get out more as clearly your worldview is severely warped.

  • Christ you seem that dense that you could be mistaken for a black hole.

Sure a lot can be assholes or whatever, but it doesn’t mean we just assume everybody is. Reddit had a mince problem, it’s likely you came from Reddit, during API gate I would guess, you happy be called a mince too?

Then you’re going in about Jan 6th like it’s apples to apples. I didn’t say all single digit millionaires are good. Furthermore many if those people did that not because they’re rich but because they have fucked up political beliefs.

Good for you. Shame unit someone assumed you were a slumlord too wouldn’t it. Personally if I earned that much I would be retired once I hit £1M. I also don’t judge people based on a singular purchase, that’s bloody insane and really does seem naive.

I’m not defending anybody, I’m merely pointing out the idiocy of saying all X are Y.

Next time I buy a car I’ll be sure to consult you to ensure that I’m making a choice that fits your world view. Do I need to do this with others things too? As I neglected to reach out when I bought a new camera recently.

  • Literally met a doctor who owned a Ferrari, it wasn’t a made up thing. To be clear he is a consultant cardiologist.

In fact when I worked for Apple I met many regular rich people who just have decent lives from value jobs and worked hard.

If you think single or double digit millionaires are the problem then you’re misguided. The problem is generational wealth or those with hundreds of millions or billions extracting value from the world.

FYI: A consultant (medical) can earn £100k - £140k per year in the UK. Source Easily enough to finance a Ferrari with low interest or save and buy one, or the shock even lease one.

  • Who is even saying that? I don’t believe I ever mentioned cost.

  • Really don’t get this mindset. A doctor can earn enough money to buy a Ferrari and it’s their money to do with as they please.

My issue is with people with obscene wealth, not rich people who work hard and provide actual value to the world.

Honestly I find your viewpoint to be quite naive at best and bitterness at worst.
