    If you need urgent care, you get it and it's almost always high-quality. If non-urgent, you might wait several months for an appointment. I've never personally had a problem with quality of care, only wait times. That's one of the reasons the government is trying to reform the way we do cancer screening and prevention, because it's hard to catch it early when it takes so long to be seen. The NHS is not in a great state currently, but it's getting better and we're definitely better off with it than without it.

  • You are incorrect. Marx felt strongly that his ideas should be used politically to change the state of the world. Aspects of Marxism can be applied in a scientific/apolitical way, but this is not what it was initially developed for.

  • I'm from the UK too and I've definitely heard things like:

    "Yeah, I saw her this thursday"

    If you used 'last thursday' in that case it would still obviously be understood, so I'm not sure it really matters. The importqnt distinction is between 'this' and 'next' thursday.

  • "This thursday" is the thursday on this current week. It might be in the future or in the past, which will be obvious from the context.

    "Next thursday" is the thursday on the next week after this current one.

    "Last thursday" is the thursday on the last week before this one.
