  • With the aggravated issue of moderators being far less ""professional"" here than in Reddit. At least in some big reddit communities there was a big admin team that tried to keep things more or less professional (not that they would always achieved that but they tried). Here mod teams are very small and mods mostly just got their position by just being here first, so I have found out a lot of very biased moderation and mods just using mod tools and position of authority to defend their own particular opinions.

If you are debating something with a moderator alt account, or with a moderator friend you are in for some unfairness going your way. At least that have been my experience trying to debate even very small deviations from a Community main political stance.

  • Also a lot of people do not consider they could be on the wrong or that other person can have a total different valid definition of what's right. And just take this "I'm obviously on the right so I can be an as*****" approach.

  • I haver a scar (more like a small disfformity) I regret because I sometimes feel that if I would have gone to the doctor in time (or at all) I would have not have it now. Also I got injured by doing just a stupid thing so it's sad have a constant reminder of that. But whatever, you end up learning to live with it.

  • I was a waiter in and out for a year. It's tiring and you can end up exhausted.

But the needed skills were very simple.

Maybe it depends on the type of waiter? I served on the bar and only drinks, which was fairly easy. And of course I didn't own the place or anything. We also didn't serve any special cocktails or weird drinks. I didn't think that a special skill was needed to do what I did.

  • I think most of those jobs are actually considered skilled jobs. Are they not?

When I think unskilled job I think picking fruit on the fields, cashier, delivering packages (though you need the driving skill so I don't know) job that does actually not take much skill, and could probably be 100% learned how to do right in a week.

Nothing bad with an unskilled job anyway. If it needs to be done it needs to be done. Not because doing it takes no special skill means that it is less important.

  • What I think about marriage is that is not that true or logical. As it is supposed to be a "forever" thing. But it's obviously not, and it's not logical that it is.

And making the whole ceremony about how two people are going to stay together forever feels weird knowing the statistics.

    At least to me.

Anyone, you are not alone. Plenty of people feel no need to make that ceremony and just enjoy life with their SO for as long as it last, or even forever.

But no heat to those who want to marry. This is just my weird personal opinion.

  • The weaker part of a conflict is not always in the right just because it's weaker than the other part and got beaten up.

  • Your dog bites someone and it becomes a big YOU problem.

  • Finding nice places to just be. In the city, in nature, where ever but magical places.

The art is already there, but I just find it and let myself be surrounded by it for a while.

  • Using transportation is not actual movement. Because movement is only made by humans.

  • It's interesting to see that the dog situation is getting out of control in other places. I thought it was only my country where people have been becoming crazier and crazier about dogs.

  • I was a simpler kid. I just thought that the sun was going to just disappear and we wouldn't notice for 8 minutes.

I was literally looking at the sky thinking the sun has already be gone.

  • It's impossible to truly prove it. Especially if it was a mixed media process. For instance generating AI image and then painting over that.

And if anyone would want to they could hand paint a picture that would look like AI made.

So, no way to do it with 100% accuracy.

  • For guys, saying "hi".

For girls, I have to go hunting a Dragon with the sword of King Arthur to be considered worth of a cup of coffee.

  • I don't know what I'm reading.

Here people mostly use debit cards, and we don't worry about things like credit scores or whatever. Also these cards tend to be free. At the end, they just give you a convenient way of paying with money you actually own.

Why would anyone buy normal stuff using credit? I get it for big purchases as a house or a car. But why go into debt for groceries or a new laptop?

  • To be fair, scientific publishing has been terrible for years, a deeply flawed system at multiple levels. Maybe this is the push it needs to reevaluate itself into something better.

  • The thing is that I already have a server and a few Terabytes of unused storage. So that would not be an issue. As long as storage doesn't en up adding that much. I know that the fediverse protocol likes to replicate storage among all servers involved in an interaction. Though I wonder if it would be possible to safely erase old data, specially if I'm just hosting it for myself. I need to investigate on that.

But for the other costs I already have a server running 24/7 on my house and several Tb of Storage. I already pay for that regardless as I use it for other things. Though ideally I would not want to allocate more than 500Gb for a one person instance, idk how reasonable would that be.

And I also need to investigate how are the normal federation politics with one person instances. If it is like trying to host an email server would be hell as you'll get mark as spam by a lot of providers.

And now that I'm wondering things I wonder how feasible would it be to host very small instances on cheap devices like sbc or cheap mini-pc. Maybe aiming for thousands of instances with a few dozen people in each instead of a few dozen of instances with thousand of people in them.

  • I have always thought of hosting a fediverse instance for myself.

I already have a server for personal usage, the technical knowledge and it would stop being a burden on other people's servers.

Does anyone have experience with this. The federation system works fine with one person instance? Storage goes out to the roof?

  • Things doesn't usually work like that.

Rent subsidiaries work by your annual income and usually the cost of your rent.

For instance they may pay you 300€ a month for your rent as long as your income is less than 30.000€ a year and your rent is bellow 800€/month. And increasing the thresholds if you have kids or if you are part of a protected collective.

They may be above these thresholds. It's pretty common in Europe for people who struggle to meet ends are above the needed thresholds for getting help. As prices have gone really up and the bar for being lower class have change a lot lately as there is a lot of new extremely poor people to help. So money don't end up being enough for all. And people with normal jobs and who live alone or with their SO usually do not get any help even if they need it.

The welfare state is kind of falling apart in the latest years.
