  • Ah! Another round of "drama!".

And the fun with neovim over the past day. I wonder if they use XLibre or Omarchy lol

  • My lab and my hosting setup are actually fully segregated, but as far as why I'll go the more complex route I'd say its simple:

    • I have the hardware (I get things through my work, sometimes to test for clients, etc)
    • I have the knowledge
    • I can give my family a better experience than the big companies offer
    • Because I like to keep my skills current
    • Some of the time, manufacturers send me things to test out or develop features for. After passing the lab testing, if I like it I'll add it to my home and maybe make some more fun things happen.

So the short version is just "because I can". I don't stress over outages or anything, if I'm out then I'm out. I UPS with NUTs because I can, and because that data is also useful for me for my work.

That same approach applies to other aspects as well. If I'm not interested in doing something, I just don't and I move on.

  • NoVNC is specifically meant to be used in the browser, and spice has its drawbacks.

I'm suggesting that for mobile you use neither, and you install the tools you need directly in the VM. I have several proxmox clusters myself.

  • Using spice can be problematic due to auth proxies / one-time credentials.

NoVNC is a web-based client that uses the vnc protocol.

My recommendation would be to use SSH or a remote desktop (RDP) tool, or even RustDesk. I access most everything via SSH, and I use RustDesk for occasional GUI needs.

  • And then they donate to... a conference dedicated to an obsolete web application framework?

Its just so blatant. And more money than the open source summit got! TWELVE TIMES WHAT THEY GAVE TO KDE AKADEMY!

    Its gross. Fuck framework.

  • It sucks because what Framework is trying to achieve is really cool.

It unfortunately makes the goals appear as nothing more than marketing to me now. If they actually wanted to achieve those goals, in no way would their donations be so out of balance.

  • He associated with Defend the Atlanta Forest, which due to being against Cop City, has been flagged as a terrorist organization by the fascists in charge.

There is literally no other reason to be found.

His lawyers have already found (through internal CBP emails) that they flagged him for suspected terrorism because he was associated with Defend the Atlanta Forest.

They internally categorized the group as anti-government, anti-authority, and a violent extremist group.

He protested against Cop City and associated with a non-violent, peaceful org that also protested against Cop City. Thats it.

  • A bunch of messy dotfiles pretending to be a distro.

Its arch with his bullshit on top. No compiled packages, no independent repos, no custom core.

Feel free to search for "Omarchy is not a distro" to get a bunch of links as to why its crap, aside from DHH being behind it.

  • They just sponsored his events more than any other event (including in combination of all the major ones), as well as constant social media posts by comparison to anything else.

I put their response squarely in "marketing bullshit to avoid responsibility" territory.

I, too, will no longer look at framework.

  • I don't know what the fuck he did to get on the FBI radar

    ....

Dude is just protesting the construction of a large cop training facility near him.

    That is what did it.

  • Oh look, its my face of utter surprise and shock at those involved.

  • Use the takeout as already mentioned for the google stuff.

For editing, I'd really recommend doing it outside immich first. I happen to like using darktable + krita for my workflow, though thats mostly DSLR not scanned.

  • To each their own... But certainly not for me.

Also, could have had fun with the name as a reference to silly dub censors too, like "Mothertruckarr" or something.

  • Ugh just think if you had a screen reader how that would come out (even though its more full words that read entirely different).

Meanwhile the font will just be checked for and an immediate discard for training. So no poisoning, and for such a small portion that it wouldn't impact ingest in the slightest.

Meanwhile they ignore the actual damn problem.

  • I'm just applying the same logic you did.

How much impact do these fonts have for LLMs scraping data?

Do you think the poisoning percentage will have any actual impact? Or do you think it would have an outsized effect on individuals?

Thats the point the very first comment makes - this method sucks. It impacts real people with a real need, and the impact on llms is nothing. Discard data in training.

Its meaningless, and the only real impact is people.

You are the one reading that as "dont do anything!", which is the same energy as me replying to you with "why do you hate people with disabilities???".

  • Depends

To me this is where SNMP traps shine, its quite specifically its purpose. Which means alloy, logstash, snmptrapd + promtail, logstashetc. Which fits best depends on what youre doing, I personally lean simple first. Do you want traps by themselves? Remote logs? Do you have a device thats already handling relays that can be triggered? How does the UPS connect? If its serial or USB over to a dedicated machine, that machine should log and send upstream.

  • This is an AI LLM issue.

    How?

Using disabled people as an excuse to discourage people from fighting isn't right, especially when no solutions are presented.

So you dont care if disabled people are able to use screen readers? Clearly this is your message, right? Not just a bad interpretation of a simple sentence?

The underlying message is, quite plainly, disabled people with screen readers don't matter. The potential to poison the tiniest sliver of a fraction of scrapes content is more important.

I don't like where this is going and I've seen disabled people used in arguments by people who know nothing of their struggles my entire life.

As someone with family members who used screen readers (among others), your dismissal of this very important use case tells me you know absolutely nothing of their struggles either, and that you are using the possible ignorance of someone else as a dismissal of an actual issue.

  • I love the schadenfreude of watching the DNC spend millions for nothing.

BOLD America spent the millions, not the DNC. BOLD America is an AIPAC-backed superpac.

  • Please explain how "this isn't effective, but does negatively impact regular people" is the same as "don't fight back".

I'd love to hear this explanation. Please. Enlighten me.

Edit: I will take your downvote as your response then.

Personally I find it weird that you're simultaneously mad that people are saying "Don't fuck over regular people" while simultaneously seeming to argue against fighting capitalism itself by trying to repeatedly reframe this as an AI/LLM issue.
