  • I gonna add one that I actually read in school and actually Am very grateful I read it.

    Its "Der gute Mensch von Sezuan" (The good human from Sezuan) by Berthold Brecht.

    The story is, that the gods try to fund a good human in the town Sezuan and disguise themselves as humans seeking shelter. No one wants to give them shelter except a prostitute name Shen-Te. As a reward for being a good person they give her gold in return, which she uses to open her own shop. However, her buisness is not very succesfull, since she wants to help as many people as possible which means a big financial burden. To help her out of this she invents her cousin (?) Shui-Ta who is cold and regularly saves the buisness by not helping people and demanding things. This way the buisness stays open and Shen-Te can continue to help her community.

    Basically the book is an analogism for why capitalism can not work, since the force to make a profit forces you to fuck over other people and it is not possible to not take part in this system on an individual level. I hated all other books we had to read in school, but I Am quite great I read that one. It also definitely played a role in my path towards becoming a communist.

    Another upside of it is, that its rather short and can be easily read in about 2-3h.

  • when you say "as a ______," you're labeling the pronoun that follows as the thing you're talking about. in this case, "as a 3rd party voter, you" implies that the person you're responding to is the 3rd party voter.

    While this is true, I guess it becomes clear in the context what they were talking about.

  • My soon to be homeserver will have an astonishing 4TB of space. The CPU can handle up to 15TB (according to official specifications), but I am lacking drives that are big enough.

    If I ever get the money to build a proper NAS I will 100% start going all in on Storage and start doing stupid shit like mirroring Wikipedia. I will probably not start mirroring the entirety of Spotify (which would be kinda sick NGL.), but I kind of have the problem that I Am kind of a data hoarder that likes to store excessive amounts of stuff I will never need. In the future I will also start seeding all the music I have, but I need a VPN with port forwarding for that beforehand (I'm currently kinda broke, so won't happen that fast)

  • What's also important to note is, that changing just simple (in theory simple) things about a law is in fact quite hard and complex. You have to be incredibly carefully to not introduce new backdoors just because you changed some small details.

  • This is also why politically we should focus on real and simple examples on how leftwing politics can and will improve the lives of the majority of people. This doesn't mean, that we should stop protesting against fascists and their action, or that we shouldnt aim for a revolution to overthrow capitalism, just that we should always aim for improving everyone's lives and this also means, that we shouldn't block reformist actions just because they are reformist.
