Actually, this town has more than enough room for the two of us

He/him or they/them, doesn't matter too much

Marxist-Leninist ☭

Interested in Marxism-Leninism, but don't know where to start? Check out my Marxist-Leninist study guides, both basic and advanced!

  • "Mass murder" is dishonest. Revolution is violent, but is a response to violence. It's self-defense. Either way, those are the groups most harmed by socialism historically, so when someone tells me they wish these groups haunt me, I can only say that I won't shed a tear for them. Same as the United Healthcare CEO that got Luigi'd.

  • Seems excessively strange to have such a strong reaction towards a now-defunct slur filter.

  • Same! Congrats on being a fellow hall-of-famer!

  • While excesses have been committed in socialist countries, they absolutely pale in comparison to the atrocities committed for capitalism and colonialism. I won't weap for landlords, capitalists, and fascists that were killed or imprisoned for their crimes against the working classes, and I will celebrate the immense gains made by the working classes after successfully gaining political power.

Everywhere the working classes have taken power, life expectancies, literacy rates, housing rates, and more have all dramatically climbed, while food insecurity and poverty dramatically declined. Every single time. The sheer effectiveness of socialism in uplifting the people is undeniable, and while it's unfortunate that this can only be successfully established via revolutionary and therefore violent means, this violence is a response to the daily brutalization of the working classes

  • Yes, unironically. The communists are correct, even if we are far from the liberal establishment politically.

  • Checks out.

  • You're equating Lemmy's now disabled slur-filter to a hard-coded censor list of queer and leftist instances and users. Are you aware of how that comes across?

  • Yep, one of those moments that feels pretty validating for my worldview, and proves the Lemmy approach to be correct.

  • They explicitly mention that dbzer0 is "extremist," ie that it has too many leftists.

  • No problem!

  • I'm definitely biased as I'm a communist myself, but I'd argue this is more reflective of the politics of both sets of devs. Lemmy devs truly believe in the communist principles underlying the FOSS, federated project they have, while Piefed is unapologetically biased against that and towards liberalism. In other words, the principles speak for themselves in both projects.

  • Lead Dev is a crusader for establishment liberalism, essentially. Hates conservatives but also hates leftists. This puts them at odds with much of the fediverse, who lean more left than liberal.

  • Piefed.social is run by an admin with similar views on censoring leftists as the Tesseract devs. There was a whole fiasco about it a few months back, where the lead Dev of Piefed kept lists of Leftists and other users they permabanned for pointing out issues with Piefed's code.

    OP is on that list.

  • It's a deliberate hate list for queer folk and leftists, pretty nakedly obvious. Calling that "internet hygiene" is a bit ridiculous.

  • Amazing how these projects keep killing themselves by alienating huge portions of their userbase. Hard to survive in a FOSS environment by being extremely reactionary.

  • Sh.itjust.works defederates from communist instances, not just CSAM and the like, so that's a move backward from OP's current instance based on what they want.

  • Nobody touts China as a utopia, but China does follow classical Marxist economics. I think you see Marx as predicting a far-future society as being fully collectivized and planned globally as also believing any socialist state must immediately become that far-future society, which is ironically the very Utopianism Marx and Engels spent so much effort debunking in their lifetimes.

  • Actually, it was because r/GenZedong was banned. r/communism is more extreme than the devs, because they (along with r/communism101) support Gonzalo and the Shining Path of Peru, which Marxist-Leninists do not.

  • You weren't flamed for mentioning established facts, but for dogmatically repeating easily disproven claims. People brought receipts and explained how your views were not actually based on evidence but instead propaganda, and now you've deleted those comments, making it hard for others to verify that they were indeed wrong. You weren't using internationally-recognized consensus, but purely western consensus, portraying that western consensus as the totality of international thought.

Either way, no, no paid trolls nor bots, just a bunch of communists. Lemmy was made and developed by communists, so there are lots of communists here.
