I think things are slowly trending toward what you describe, but I don't see war being over for a long time. Especially if global warming causes famine and such
Wildfires hitting a specific area is also just rare. I grew up in a wildfire-prone area and we only got significant smoke once. So not remembering any doesn't really say anything meaningful necessarily.
