    Until today. I just upgraded my server with an Intel ARC. Was looking forward to enabling qsv for streaming. Turns out you need plex pass to do that.

  • I froze three and was given a code to unlock them temporarily (or something this was like 8 years ago).

    Gave the code to my bank when applying for a home loan. It didn’t work. Ended up just unfreezing so they could do their job.

    Costs like $12 every time you want to freeze. It’s a racket.

  • A little long winded at the end, but a good read. The amount that I feel "on my own" is insane.

    And it's not even the gig economy. Nobody has any agency to do anything. I was trying to buy a frozen turkey at Target on sale after Thanksgiving. The tag fell off at some point. They told me that they couldn't sell it to me because they had no way to weigh it. It took three people looking at the shrink wrap for a bar code (which never has the price since they're individually weighed).

    It was going to be like a $8 turkey, but none of them had the authority to just make that happen. Target would apparently rather have a checkout line grind to a halt than let a few dollars go as a weight is estimated.
