This seems like surveillance disguised as a mostly useless feature. If you are in the office and logging into a video call, you’re probably using the hardware in a conference room and not your own laptop. That hardware will already display the room you are calling from to everyone on the call.
The only reason for this feature is to tattle on people who aren’t where they say they are.

You should. There aren’t enough lifeboats for everyone and they don’t even view you as a passenger. More like cattle. So they aren’t saving one for you.
I wonder if someone is trying to cast shade on TMobile as an ISP who is monitoring content and violating consumer rights? Unless it’s a precursor to a follow-up extortion campaign for these customers, it seems like by itself it does more potential damage to TMobile then to the consumers.

What sort of bugs are you experiencing? I’m using the official Jellyfin app and it’s been extremely stable on all my Apple devices. But I noticed a while ago that videos that were not MPEG were problematic so I converted all the AVI and WMV and WEBM to MP4 and it has been much more reliable. Scrubbing and previews have worked much better also
