  • I had problems while an external monitor was connected on Fedora 42, but as I don't use it often I figured I could live with it. Now it seemed to have gotten worse. Once the second monitor was working but GNOME was acting weird. So yes, that absolutely does seem related.

    Just my luck that GNOME 49 just dropped support for X11. I guess if it's unbearable I can downgrade.

  • That sounds familiar - I will look into this if the crashes return (it has been stable for a couple of hours now). Going wild with screen brightness and night light does not seem to trigger anything.

    I'm on Wayland and pretty vanilla Fedora with GNOME.

  • I will run this next time it crashes (if it happens again) - after freezing several times in a row earlier it has been steady the last couple of hours, so the last crash is outside of the period of the log that I see now.

  • ICE is out of control and beyond repair - This agency needs to be stripped down to the studs. Dems should start preparing now.

  • The agency doesn’t necessarily have to be abolished; we do need to enforce immigration laws. But it will have to be completely remade. And it’s not too early to start preparing.

    Counterargument: It needs to be abolished. There might be elements of the American state worth salvaging the remains of. ICE is not one of them.

  • Looking at the comments in this thread I'm mostly amazed at how many users have their number of comments in the several thousands. I see you have 1.2K comments on your instance, but only ­­­­­ ~300 of them federated over to PieFed.

    I had Kbin and Mbin accounts before this one, so my total count of ~900 in this profile is not the complete picture, but it's still fascinating to me how relatively inactive I am compared to the big time posters out there. I'm pretty sure I already spend way too much time on here.

  • Is anyone here actually using ReactOS?

    I feel like Linux just makes more sense to pretty much everyone, but maybe there are users who depend on very specific Windows-only ecosystem for whom ReactOS makes sense. It's just such a strange little OS.
