  • Asking such questions should be a red flag. There is a lot of research on interviews and that question isn't on anyone's list of useful questions. If they would waste your time asking that do you really want to work there?

  • There will be another election. Third parties don't need to win to send a message and change things, as the very fact that some positions get some votes means that politicians looking to win try to figure out how to attract some of those voters next time.

  • Freshwater is not wasted. Hot water is wasted unless your water heating comes from renewable energy (rare), so wash as cold as possible, but freshwater is not wasted. It is trivial (though it does cost money!) to treat waste water from your cleaning (including your toilets) and turn it back into drinkable fresh water. I know cities generally dump their treated sewage back into the river, but it is drinkable water and the next city downstream will take it in.

  • That is my culture. Why do you have so little respect for my culture as to think I should follow your values?

I have seen variations of this debate in letters from around 100. I'm sure it goes back much farther.

  • The NRA was long the organization with the least wealthy members. It wasn't money that made them powerful (though they had a lot) it was they could show their average donation was an order of magnitude less than just about anyone else. They had lots of little guys donating money and that scared politicians - money is second to votes and all those little donations meant the NRA had a lot of voters who wouldn't be swayed by any amount of money.

  • The foaming at the mouth about "government tyranny" was just a load of bullshit to help rake in the money so Wayne could afford to take more personal trips on the corporate jet.

I have started to apply that to all lobby groups. I've been identified as a republican, while the previous owners of my house were democrats (or at least identified that way), so I get their political mail now that the forwarding as expired. I often get mail on the same day from both a left and right group, in it is always "Send us money because [other side] is [something exaggerated to scare supporters into sending money]". You could use a standard search/replace on the same form documents to write the letters both are sending. It is very amusing.

Meanwhile I have long been voting third party...

  • Yet the vast majority fail after you account for expenses.

  • I was brought up in a clasical liberal society. That it was also capitalist is incidental.

  • Sure, then they go watch the garbage anyway. Often until very late at night if I don't take away their school device that I can't lockdown...

  • That is the easy part. my kids piano lessons track which is next and their practice, then the video is embedded. it also doesn't work on the roae unless I get a vpn.

  • How do I has a parent curate content? I have not found anything that lets me allows the good. Either I block youtube completely, or I get what google decides is good for my kids (which blocks things I find good while allowing the bad)

  • I wish there was a way to filter youtube. I can block it completely on my firewall, but how do I let my kids watch their piano lesson without getting sucked into something they shouldn't see?

  • If you need that spine surgery get it. I wish I had mine sooner. Most people don't need surgery as physical theorpy fixes it. However when a few weeks wasn't showing any improvement they sent me for a mri and that found something that surgery was needed before it parralized me. (Not cancer but still a growth)

hopefully you have the same pains as everyone else but only a doctor can figure out the rare exceptions.

  • any color you want. Your local paint store can can mix any of tens of thousand different colors while you wait. Paint is cheap - spend the extra cost for their best paint and it is still cheap.

make sure you don't move where a hoa puts limits on you - and tell your realtor not to waste your time on those places.

  • That is still better for both the environment and safety than everyone going to the store seperately in their own car. (Transit or walking of course are still better yet).

  • Linux is higher marketshare than windows. Most phones run linux and phones out number othercomputer styles-

  • You can sometimes be friends - but that cannot be forced and you shouldn't try. Sometimes the strict morman will be on the same team as a muslem, an altoholic and a homosexual - you can ask all to work together in the office but they have significant personal differences and will not have anything common to do outside of work. If such things are not allowed them you don't have a diverse team. I have personally worked with someone live everyone of the above and it works because when we realize those differences we don't talk about those subjects.

  • I don't mean you should tell me your criteria. if your idea of success is chess world champion - many have worked 12 hour days for years at it and failed - thus much luck is needed. likewise you may be great at business without ever making CEO. However more modest goals are reached by many - chess national master is in reach of many more. Engineers don't make near what the CEO does but many more get there.

i can never figure out relationships but those who study it tell me there are predictive measures of what they call success. (The experts don't always agree)

  • there are common factors of succesful people. Working hard in some areas tends to result in more success than others.
