  • When I had a house with a shady yard, it was mostly moss. It won't take a lot off foot traffic but it doesn't even need mowing.

  • How do we know they aren't screaming the whole time underground where no one can hear them?

  • That's certainly possible too, but what I was getting at was that even a bunch of things dumped at once probably aren't going to all be the same age.

  • More like "knee thinkers," amiright?

  • Someone dumping some shit might well have had some of the objects much longer than some of the others. And if anything, a person is less likely to be dumping new objects, except for disposable things like beer cans.

  • This doesn't seem exhaustive enough to be titled "the state of Linux music players."

  • Serious question: I know many oaks can crossbreed with each other, but do oaks actually crossbreed with non-oaks?

  • Well it seems safe to say it's at least as unlikely as a terran species being able to breed with some randomly selected other terran species.

  • High quality clothes can actually look good when they wear a little. Shitty stuff looks immediately shittier the minute it wears just a little. (This actually applies to a lot of other things too, like brick vs concrete.)

  • Wingsuit flying.

  • You can get an attachment for your garden hose that would let you spray soapy water over a large area very quickly.

  • Such a thing is actually quite enormous in terms of the sheer number of little details. Its like updates to maps. There are constantly little fixes and changes and improvements to the online maps of your country, but how likely are you personally to ever notice any of them?

  • Well they are afraid of the system, which they think is out to get them. See white nationalists who claim they are being persecuted, "deep state", various conspiracy theories, need for guns for self protection, etc, etc. I don't see anything hard to reconcile.

  • A bicycle with gears should not be hard to pedal. You should be able to downshift to a point where it is not hard to pedal.

I'm just suggesting that the bicycles you tried may just not have been suitable for someone who is not already a strong bike rider.

  • That's a bullet dodged, if you ask me.

  • Dr. García-Ruiz is hoping to perform similar experiments with wild chimpanzees. Unlike those raised among humans, “they have no idea about polyhedra and Euclidean geometry,” he said. “I think that will be even more interesting.”

So the captive chimps have been taught about polyhedra and Euclidean geometry???

  • We don't put plain sugar syrup on waffles, we use maple syrup or sometimes a fruit syrup such as blueberry. Maple syrup has a very distinctive flavor.

I checked out your link: this home made syrup is interesting but I've never heard of anyone doing this.
