  • This conversation is so frustrating to witness. Particularly because I remember you were such a strong proponent of Harris though the election cycle, which suggest you have political sense enough to care and know things are bad, but now that the cards are different your plan is to disconnect and feel hopeless? If you truly believe that America is a fascist dictatorship, and realize that we have the largest military in the world, don't you feel moral imperative to at least try? If the solution you were striving for didn't work, why is your next move give up rather than look to something like black radical thought, which has for much longer being explaining how the solutions to these problems don't come with ballots.

  • I got it on my android phone. Currently just a chronological stream off all posts. A lot is just resposts of tiktoks or other cribbed content. When it's not taken from tiktok, I feel like it's pretty mild random video of pets or landscapes.

  • One that jumped out to me was folks bashing the security of mastodon because things like DMs were visible to instance admins. Like yeah I guess it's not great, but I trust my DMs with my instance admin more than fucking Musk...

  • Oh so they're wrong. Okay

  • A thousand different people

No just like 6 people and a ton of alts.

  • The US has very little reason to target Palestinians, and most of the violence from Palestinian groups have targeted Israelis.

The US has interest in having a foothold in the region. The foothold they've chosen is a settler colonial project that has reasons to exterminate the native population as settler projects often do.

The US is far more concerned about other groups in the region, like ISIS, the Taliban, and the Houthis.

These are pretty small concerns, the actual concerns in the region are the nation states that oppose US hegemony.

The main reason the US seems to care is because they successfully carried out an attack on our ally.

US aid to Israel did not start with October 7th.

The US has repeatedly told Israel to scale back their operations in Gaza and allow humanitarian aid in, yet they completely ignore it. There’s absolutely no way Israel is anywhere close to a “vassal state,” they do pretty much whatever they want.

Actions speak louder than words, and all of our actions seem to suggest they can do no wrong. So maybe consider that just because we say otherwise doesn't actual mean we want their actions to scale back.

That doesn’t make the US responsible for Israeli actions though.

The US is arming, funding, and blocking accountability from the UN. How many times do we have to reload the gun before the shooting is our fault too?

  • The "man yells at clouds" energy is very strong with you. 😊

  • Sorry I don't really use it, what was it's vision, and how did it stray?

  • tomato patato

  • Did higher karma increase the boots of your upvote on reddit?

  • What is the general outlook on others helping him build them out? I would hate to see tons of the energy dissipate because it was one guy trying his damnedest to out compete tech companies on two fronts.

  • Fair, I think hyperbolic headlines are just the reality of click-driven journalism :\

  • I feel like in it's current form it's more likely to lose lifetime fans than catch them. I would be genuinely surprised if nothing happened to make the experience on rednote worse, and from what I've heard it would be also a valid target of the existing law, so just as easy to shut down.

Also doesn't loops currently just have a fire hose feed of all videos uploaded in chronological order? Seems like it's lacking core features that would make it stick for folks.

  • My phone failed whenever I tried to buy something (just testing to see what it would do), and I haven't seen anything that stood out as an obvious ad.

  • It seems entirely plausible to me that someone that uses tiktok a lot saw enough folks talking about it that they thought it would be an interesting story.

    Further I feel like:

“I just wanted something that could replace TikTok, and also it was sort of an act of protest against our government,” the Texan said.

Xiaohongshu did not respond to Rest of World’s request for comment, including on the latest count of overseas users.

Although Xiaohongshu is widely used by overseas Chinese people, the platform has made limited efforts to attract a broader international user base. Even Xiaohongshu’s logo is designed with the Chinese characters of its name. It offers no in-app translation for user posts or comments, and only suggests Chinese-language keywords in its search bar.

But the sudden increase in American users likely poses new challenges for Xiaohongshu, as the platform tries to balance global business expansion with pressure to enforce China’s censorship laws.

are not really the sorts of claims that would exist in an astroturf campaign. I mean maaayybe they wanted it to appear more authentic, so they invited the writer to be more critical and portray the app in a revolutionary light that is pretty counter to it's culture, but I think it's far more likely to be genuine.

  • Valid and this is very certainly my math bias poking through. Though I think to consider the false case of a gender binary, the 1-bit value being M or F would suggest it's describing the scope of gender expressions in memory values, and this interpretation seems to continue with the meme of it needing to be a 64-bit gender. So in correcting that falsehood, it would be a the space that have spots for all possible gender expressions.

While I agree the tautological approach of person['gender'] = "{Person's gender}" would accurately label all genders, I think the radical point to make is that the space itself is the confining factor. My point being the systems needed to properly represent a gender expression can only be approximated with finite discrete systems.

Agreed the difficulty of describing the gender space even would be near impossible! I always say the simplest way I can describe mine is: Aeiαt|💪> + Beiβt|💅> + Ceiγt|🤖>

    |💪>, |💅>, and |🤖> of course being the base vectors I find most useful as invariant under my transformation.

    Though, to ramble a bit

Please, this is a very serious conversation about very serious things like an n-dimensional gender hyperspace! Please refrain from nonsensical ramblings.

I guess the real question is, what would best represent your eigenvectors?

  • Sure, but just because sine is one function doesn't mean it's accurately replicable in a finite discrete system.

I read your previous comment as making the point that because there are finite people, there will be finite values of gender, and therefore discrete and replicable. If it's continuous and variable, even if there are finite individuals that have finite methods of expressions their gender, gender itself spans the reals.

  • I think this is a very convenient position for the US. It fails to take into account the depth of connections between Israel and the US, and how much of the situation in Gaza can only happen because of the US.

Even if I grant that there is some genocide scaling factor because it's done by a vassal state, I still would argue the devastation of Gaza is certainly more far extensive.

  • finite number of individuals, there will also necessarily only ever be a finite number of different gender expressions

This only demonstrates that there will be a finite number of genders at any given instance. One could be more fluid and a responsive gender such that it maximizes the gay of any particular kiss they are having at the time.
