  • Italian here as well and I support this . Became much more woke about the stereotypes we fall in lately, after 15 years around Europe. Especially when people apply Scorsese movies terminology to us: if someone jokes about me being a mafioso I respond with a small lecture about what mafia really is.

  • Italy sorely needs nurses as well.

  • Technically, so are the Israelis.

  • Francis said that judgement should be suspended on gay individuals and theorized a gay cabal in the same sentence. That's different than being kind to them.

  • Meloni copying this (once more, as Italy has already done it many times, since the 1920s) in 3...2...

  • Despite being a very human-centered series from what I heard, it had too much "space-awe" in its presentation. That stuff is boring as hell to me, bordering offensive as I am more of a "Whitey's on the Moon" kind of guy.

  • I could not even stand Walter, watched 1 and a half episodes.

  • Game of Thrones, the Expanse, Breaking Bad

  • What is an alternative to burning for long-term immobilization?

    Asking for a friend.

  • Yep, that's what happens when you let religious people get close to Law unchecked.

  • That happens first, then one more time you will be faced with the same choice, and you will remember that happened and that you were already wiser once.

  • Starting to remember the good reasons why you DIDN'T like something in the past and trusting your past judgment.

  • My grandfather had a chemistry lab in the San Lorenzo area in Rome and one day due to a heated discussion with his mother-in-law, arrived late for work. As soon as he put the key in the door of the lab, an Allied bomb hit the lab leaving little more than the door he was opening standing.

He survived that day, one of the highest death tolls in Rome in WWII.

  • You are probably overestimating how much thought everyone who expressed a disagreeable moral here gives to that issue. Theists are the last of my problems.

  • Exactly, you can conduct most interactions without problems and a good portion of them will even share the same views as me (a non-tankie-leftie).

The best depiction of what I mean on film has been given by Marcia Gay Harden in The Mist, in my opinion.

That is the kind of situation I prefigure whenever someone discloses faith to me, minus the tentacles.

  • I just tested Tesseract. Photon is WAY better.

    I use Voyager on mobile.

  • Wait a second... gnostic like in Gnostic? I didn't know it was still a thing. I thought they had you all killed by the other Christians in the 2nd century.

  • This is the kind of response I am used to: swearing due to offended identity, inherently divisive terminology like "our lands" and blaming for causing you to lose theist intestine wars.

Having tried a lot in the past, I know that a comment thread is not the place or modality to conduct a fruitful conversation with a Christian.

Being born a Catholic, I can tell you that epiphany came when I realized that all the good things I am sure you did do not need to bring with them the mark of a (made up) system of power: you own it yourself and the real animus driving your actions can be just a feeling of belonging to the human species at large, a species free to roam any land without the need to plant flags nor to feel attached to any place only to limit the potential of others and one's own.

  • In Italy, our most famous Holocaust survivor, Primo Levi, in his book recounting his days in Auschwitz tells of a man who would spend all his cigarettes on the black market to get some soap and shower every day.

Asked about why, he tells that you not taking care of yourself and your body is what Nazis want to achieve: to turn you in the animal they can exploit to the last drops of blood and sweat.

Taking care of yourself is the first Resistance against Fascism and all those who are against unconditional respect for Humanity.

    Take care, Brother.
