  • Sounds like an invitation to Omertà.

  • This is good! They dont deserve it.

  • We need a jingle for Enshittification.

  • That would actually be true if companies were run by the people doing the work.

  • Ancient Rome.

  • The European kind. Not the Extended Universe nor Eastern University.

  • My country? I am from the EU!

Let's try not to be offensive.

  • From the entry for "zaibatsu" on Wikipedia:

Under the Allied occupation after the surrender of Japan, a partially successful attempt was made to dissolve the zaibatsu. Many of the economic advisors accompanying the SCAP administration had experience with the New Deal and were highly suspicious of monopolies and restrictive business practices, which they felt to be both inefficient, and to be a form of corporatocracy (and thus inherently anti-democratic).

The only difference? The zaibatsu actually diversified their operations.

  • He may be dependent himself on public funding as much as Elon and the others, but, to be fair, so have all capitalists in history at some point in time or at some level.

Pure capitalism is just a wild fantasy that would require complete disregard of human rights and/or huge advancements and investments in technology with the energy expenditure that entices.

So yeah, capitalist has always been a swear word to me, but I see it used appropriately in this context and in general.

  • It is literally AI taking time out of of your life, I don't see how that doesn't make sense to you.

  • I suggest you watch his old Adam Ruins Everything videos

  • You don't need an organized group to have people who compromised on logic forcing their views on others. Sure, an organized group can be more efficient, but it is also more visible as a threat.

  • I wish! I would be happy to be their Lovecraftian abyss.

  • No, the problem is accepting uncritically anything that comes from a self-defined leader, and, even in the absence of that, accepting that any critical input in a social system should come from people that have compromised on logic and reason at some level.

  • Finally, I found another one like me. Prepare for a shower of shit in the comments, as most people here defend religion strenously.

  • That is the title. There is an article beyond that.

  • And my investment bank doesn't let me short on it.

  • You are talking about 2 different applications of AI to the job market.

  • I mean, Jews were prohibited from having most reputable high jobs and the only thing that matched the Torah and was allowed in Christian (maybe later Catholic) Europe was money lending.

In Rome, my parents' generation still calls stingy people "giudío" meaning Jew, since of course they were bound to be more attached to money and less prone to charity than most.

From having that reputation and managing lots of debt, to having the finger pointed at, it's an easy quick step.
