  • The media is totally out to lunch. I watched HitlerPig in a few different interviews bragging about the cost of gasoline being only $2, and not one "journalist" challenged that assertion. Where is it $2? What state? I travel the entire East Coast for work, and I haven't seen gas below $2.50 since the peak of Covid.

    I'm in Florida, and it cycles between $2.90 and $3.20 on a predictable cycle. It's about $2.95 today, and it will be at $2.89 by the weekend, then jump to $3.20 next Monday or Tuesday, guaranteed. The cheapest gas on the East Coast is always South Carolina, and I haven't seen it below $2.60, and it's usually in in the $2.80s.

    So $2? Where?

  • Imagine California, Oregon, and Washington form a pact, with the Rockies giving them a natural protective barrier. Then they form an alliance with Canada and Mexico, and surround 2/3 of the United States with hostile powers, who also control ALL shipping into the West Coast. If MAGA America wants their goods from Asia, they'll have to pay California's tariffs on EVERYTHING.

    Or, they could route everything through the Panama Canal, with all the extra costs associated with that. Perhaps CA/OR/WA can form an alliance with Panama, and close it to MAGA America shipping.

  • Because the Republican Party of smaller government and lower taxes no longer exists. Now we have the MAGA Nazis, who are for lower taxes on the wealthy, higher taxes on the poor/working class, and an much larger, extremely oppressive authoritarian police state. California has a lot of money, and a lot of foreigners, and MAGA wants to control it all.

    As far as deregulation goes, that will go to the corporations that pay for it. Corps that play ball will get deregulation, corps that don't play ball, will have their regulations tightened.

  • Interesting points. HitlerPig is planning a big birthday celebration for himself, complete with military parade, but they haven't said a word about what should be an enormous national celebration next year.

    I do think they will suspend elections, because our elections are too separated. We don't have one election, we have 50. Russia, NK, etc. only have a single election to rig, and the guy at the top controls it. I'm positive MAGA rigged the last one, but they had the help of the richest tech Oligarch in the world, and at least one foreign leader, all of whom were working toward that for years, and they were only trying to control the election of a single candidate. A Congressional election would require successfully rigging hundreds of elections simultaneously. If they screw up only a handful, power shifts to the Dems, giving them investigative, subpoena, and arrest powers, and they can't have that.

    Suspending elections will cause a huge, historic uproar, but it is also declares the inevitable to the world and history - America is no longer a Democratic nation, it is controlled by MAGA for all time. Just like Israel has decided that now is finally the time to clear out Gaza, MAGA believes that now is finally the time to take America for themselves.

  • The reason they will wait until next summer is because of the timing. If they declare Martial Law now, and suspend elections (the real objective), they have more than a year to fight about it, and get the courts and the SCOTUS to rule on it, with plenty of time to deal with the aftermath.

    But if they just spend the next year escalating it into chaos, then declare Martial Law next Fall, and suspend elections, it will be too late for the courts to do anything about it before Election Day passes, and once it passes, it's over.

    They could impose Martial Law now, and just not suspend elections until next Fall, but they need the people to get really fired up first, so they will feel more justified in suspending the election. Martial Law now would only suppress the attendance at protests, and right now the MAGA Nazis want them as big and violent as possible.

    This summer they light the fuse. The bomb goes off next summer.

  • Valid suggestions. My suggestion was just a starting point, and yours offers some good adjustments. I worry the educational standards being different in all states may make it harder for those in some states to pass the test.

    Besides, I don't think we want some schlub off the street that barely knows an 8th grade level of history/civics running our country. I want people who take it seriously, and have sought further knowledge, education, and insight into the government. I don't see anything wrong with experts managing the country. Part of the problem we have now is that we have evil morons whose entire political and historical education has come from the Conservative Propaganda Machine, and believe that Intolerance is a virtue.

    I have always had a problem with the word "elites." Somehow it has become a term of disparagement, often a dog whistle for Jews. Oxford dictionary defines it as:

    a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.

    Isn't that who we want running our country?

  • It's about legal timing, at which HitlerPig is a virtuoso, due to plenty of practice. If he declares Martial Law too early, he gives the courts time to rule against him when he suspends the election, which is the primary objective.

    So he will use the next year and a few months to keep amping up the rhetoric, the atrocities, the violence, until it is out of control next summer. He'll allow the primary race to go on, giving MAGA the opportunity to spread their propaganda, and finally cancel the election only a few weeks before.

    Until then, it's all about escalation.
