  • If they tossed the case that Mark Kelly brought, wouldn't that mean they're affirming the pentagon's position in the case? Seems to me the only way for the pentagon to be overruled is for this to be heard.

  • I heard an anecdote that one of the reasons older structures last longer than newer buildings was until the days of using Log Tables, engineers had to round up to the nearest values to match the values in the log table when calculating complex forces, and this rounding compounded when multiplied against other rounded values. Once computers were being used with design, you could calculate the forces exactly to minimize material costs.

  • They fall back to the Purcell principle when it's convenient and didn't get involved in Texas redistricting a full year before the next election, but when California does the same thing (via the legal avenues) all of a sudden it's not too close to an election and they'll likely mess with California's redistricting. I despise the corruption of the court, but they could at least have the decency of keeping the corruption consistent.

  • Yeah, Honey is just exacerbating the inherent flaws in the system, and most of it can be dealt with having a limit of coupon usage and expiration of the coupons.

    The thing which really upset me is advertisers pulling money from podcasts which have referral codes because of abuse from Honey. I'm not a fan of advertisements, but the referal codes were a simple solution since there's no way to accurately measure if an ad was listened to. Honey causing advertisers to pull support for podcasts just pushes podcasts to closed ecosystems with more tracking and analytics, and takes money away from Podcasters.

  • I don't think he does any podcasts anymore. He stepped away from Cortex about 6 months ago, and Hello Internet has been gone for years now. Agreed with maintaining upload quality and sacrificing frequency, which had been the status quo for years, but i'm afraid the channel is more abandoned now.

  • Well this is why i wish he would put out more videos, to see his reflection of this almost 10 years later knowing what we know now that self driving cars are here, and not stuff that was in highly controlled environments. To me, Grey always seemed like someone who trusts computers more than people, so maybe he'd still hold the same stance, but i would be interested in hearing his thoughts rather than dismissing him because of something he said 10 years ago which hasn't come true. I also vaguely remember hearing in one of his podcasts that he had gotten into a really bad car accident and actually didn't drive for many years after that, so I'd imagine some of his admiration with self driving cars at the time was focused on them reporting being safer than human drivers. Who knows, but I for sure would like to see a 2026 version of the end of that video about solving traffic from him.
