I really liked Watchmen (perhaps my favourite superhero/comic book movie still) and 300 was very alright, I guess some executives felt the same way... but yeah, everything else he's touched is varying degrees of shit, he's the anti Midas. 🥲

The four Americans with souls and morals would feel awful, the two Americans with that but also with a modicum of knowledge in American history would feel awful but not surprised... and the rest would either feel like they deserve it ("might makes right" and the law of the jungle are the core tenets of Western civilization, nvm Anglo-Saxon settler pillager civ.) or pretend like they care because morality is decorative signaling for them.

I agree to a great degree. And expectations should be adjusted accordingly. I remember having a great time watching Thor: Ragnarok, not because it was beautiful art that made me reflect and cry and whatnot but because it was fun! And not extremely dumb, lol, and that's all we can ask from these movies. Rarely do people only enjoy things with a lot of depth and complexity, and even if you're like that about movies, are you the same about music? Food? You've never enjoyed a greasy burger? So yeah there's no need to hate on them, and no need to expect more from them either (but if it happens it's always a nice surprise!). ✌️

They're products aimed at children with the intention of selling other related products. The fact that some biological adults love them excessively in certain communities/cultures says something about those groups, but doesn't change the nature of the films themselves. What exactly did you expect?!
Dune has lucid "prophets" (the guild navigators, Paul and Leto II, for example), and Paul can even see/feel his way around the world through his prophetic visions when he loses his sight in Messiah. "The voice" is described almost as an advanced technique that is purely physical and psychological and not magical so idk if it fits.
If the immigrants who sometimes don't even speak the language and work the worst paid jobs have 2-3 kids on the average, I'm sure you can as well if it's truly a priority.
Oh, I do. The main difference is this: they simply don't want it as much as they want other things. And it is, of course, due to ideological and cultural reasons, mostly (sometimes it's trauma too, which is understandable).
