Congress said up front that they still expected her to appear; let's see if they let them get away with it this time. [Spoiler alert: they will.]

What's this "we", white man?
Unfortunately, they've only established that the 1974 emergency powers act is not a legal way to establish tariffs; all other tariffs established by justifying them through other means are still (potentially) legal.
I beg to differ:
There will be no punishment and no investigation after two Army military helicopters were flown by Kid Rock’s house over the weekend, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Tuesday. The Army had suspended the aircrew in Saturday's incident, a U.S. official said earlier Tuesday, but Hegseth announced Tuesday evening that no suspension or punishment would be forthcoming.
Remember the last shutdown, when we had the Republicans over a barrel and almost every Democrat in the nation was like, "Finally! This is the line and we're not backing down!" - and then Schumer backed down in return for a measly promise that Democratic issues would be 'considered' [completely ignored] the next month?
He's 75, he thinks the government still works like it used to (and actually still works, lol), and we desperately need a change of leadership away from the Schumer's and the Pelosi's.

This is like 30 years ago, before electric cars were really a thing. Some friends and I were hanging out in the Pine Barrens one night. It was an area we knew pretty well, and we'd walked down this long sandy road with no turnoffs to get to where we happened to be hanging out.
Suddenly, all of nature around us went silent - and I mean all of it. Sound carries at night, especially with the lakes to echo off of. We looked up the road we were walking back along, and there was a pair of headlights coming our way. We could tell they were headlights because they were lower than a person would carry a flashlight, they were moving in that peculiar synchronization that headlights have, and they'd do several quick bounces when they hit a rut in the road.
So anyway, we're in this road in the ass-end of the Barrens, everything's turned absolutely deadly silent, and there's this car coming down the road toward us. And the three of us suddenly realize that it's absolutely silent. Not only is nature silent, but the car isn't making any noise either.
We watch the headlights of this car headed down the road toward us - it's a couple hundred yards away now, the Pine Barrens are still dead silent, and the car isn't making any noise either.
My nerve broke first. I bolted off the road and partially vaulted over a couple shrubs, my friends close behind me. We turned around, and the car was still coming toward us - and then suddenly the headlights went out. We waited, but nothing happened - no car headlights, no interior lights, no car doors opening, no voices - nothing. We waited, and still nothing.
We dithered and talked over what to do and we eventually grabbed a couple branches and headed back up the road. We reached the area where the headlights turned off - and there was no car. We turned our flashlight on the (very) sandy road, and we could see our tracks heading down, but there weren't any recent car tracks. We checked the road and the verge all the way back to our car, and - nothing. The forest went dead silent, there were headlights, the car didn't make a sound, and then it just ... disappeared. We went back the next day, and there still was no sign of anyone on that road that night except us.
.
There's also a rest stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike heading into New Jersey. Like two miles before the rest stop, there's a sign saying something like "New Jersey - 25 miles". We pull into the rest stop, get some gas, relieve ourselves, grab a snack, get back on the road. Go maybe two or three more miles, and there's another sign saying "New Jersey - 5 miles". Like, wtf? If there a space warp at that rest stop or something?

Do you have insurance that covers it?
The article only talks about the war with Iran. But Ukraine has taken out more of Russia's processing facilities and Russia has announced that they're no longer going to export [?gas ?petroleum? can't remember offhand]. Whatever it is, the loss of the additional fuel is also going to drive up the cost of fuel.
It's also going to drive to the cost of food - not only in transporting seed and fertilizer to the farm, tractors and combines on the farms, and trucks away from the farms, but also because gas and oil and their byproducts are critical components of several types of fertilizer. Food insecure nations are going to be struggling, and even nations who are comparatively food stable will see rising prices.
No. ICE was already plenty funded from last summer's bill, which is why they're still on the streets and in the airports. The Democrats were (supposedly) fighting for restrictions on ICE: no masks, warrants required, limits on use of force, etc. Once again, they got absolutely none of the things that they were supposedly fighting for.
The Republicans, however, get to claim they've "ended" the shutdown, and have also gotten pretty much everything they wanted.
It's going to be even worse with the war with Iran. Here is a wonderful, detailed article on the various impacts the war is going to or is likely to have on various food supplies.
Again: if trump never raped her, and he's promising revenge on the people who trafficked her and who did rape her? After years of no justice, no peace, she sees this as a possibility and she grabs it with both hands. Just like someone with cancer and no hope left from traditional medicine might go into alternative treatments, just for the chance - I can see her doing that.
I'll get downvotes for this, but this is one case where I can understand her position. She was trafficked, raped and traumatized as a kid, was likely fed drugs as a kid as well. She's lived with that trauma her entire life, spoken up and was dismissed, and she's still angry, frustrated, terrified and traumatized.
And no one does anything. For years, for decades, no one does anything.
And trump comes along and says he'll prosecute the people on the list. Maybe she thinks he's not on the list, maybe she knows he is but if he's not the one who raped her she doesn't cares, she just wants everyone else taken down.
No one else is promising to go after the Epstein list, but trump is. And she's hoping that if she can see some justice get done, that she'll finally be able to put some of her trauma behind her.
She's not racist, she's not a brainwashed Fox News addict, she doesn't want to 'stick it to the libs'. She is legitimately a one-issue voter. She just wants free of her pain, and she casts the one vote that's promising her that.
This is the one vote that I don't think is LAMF material, it's just a tragedy for this poor woman.
Malone claimed on social media that [HHS] had disbanded [the vaccine advisory board] and planned to completely reconstitute it. But soon after, Malone retracted his claim, saying it was a miscommunication and that disbanding ACIP was merely one of the “options being considered.” [A] HHS spokesperson [...] then released a statement to media pointing to Malone’s retraction and adding, “Unless officially announced by us, any assertions about what we are doing next is baseless speculation.” Malone [said] that Nixon’s response was what led to his departure. “After Andrew trashing me with the press, I am done with the CDC and ACIP,” Malone said in a text message Tuesday morning. “That was the last straw.”
Sounds like he thought he could say anything and that it would magically happen, and he didn't like being called out on his bullshit.
“Suffice to say I do not like drama, and have better things to do,” he added. [...] “Hundreds of hours of uncompensated labor, incredible hate from many quarters, hostile press, internal bickering, weaponized leaking, sabotage—I have better things to do,” he said.
I'm delighted that he should go off and pursue these "better things", lol.
Nowhere near as infuriating as when they finally speak up ... after they've left office :(
I never said it was planned, just that I have doubts that the story she's presented on her video channel is the full story.
Am I not allowed to look at her video history where she's always the victim, note the fall in the number of her followers (until this video came out), look at the video that she edited and put online, notice discrepancies in that video, and think, "There may be more to this than just what she's chosen to show us"? Because that's where I am.
I have watched the video, and I've watched a couple others on her channel. She doesn't speak like that normally, she's exaggerating it for the views. And the only video we've seen is the one she's chosen to put online (with her own edits), which will naturally portray her as in the right.
Apparently she's a law student, very litigious, and has been losing followers because her ongoing saga with the HOA board has become "boring".
instead of ignoring a single drink
We have no idea how many drinks she had before getting on the plane. Perhaps the flight attendant didn't want to deal with an argumentative, potentially drunk passenger in addition to her other duties.
I watched the video when it came out. The first couple sentences the woman speaks do sound as if she's deaf - but then she sounds progressively less deaf as the disagreement goes on. As the public spat continued, I visited her TikTok account and (as of yesterday), she's pinned this December 2024 video where she says the ear doctor told her she's losing her hearing, and you'll notice she's speaking pretty normally.
I have friends and relatives who have become increasingly hard of hearing as they aged, including a couple that have gone completely deaf, and none of them have that "lost hearing before learning to speak" deaf 'accent'. That's because their brain and muscles remember what the movements for those words sound like. They do tend to lose verbal 'crispness' over time, but it takes years. So right off the bat, she was implicitly exaggerating her 'hearing loss' in the viral video.
Someone on yesterday's reddit thread commented in part
I went down a rabbit hole of her TikTok, and she's a disgusting person personality wise. ALWAYS playing the victim. [...] We don't know what led up to this. I hear them constantly bring up "accommodations". My bet is she was making a scene about her "accommodations" and during that the attendant saw the cup. Rather deal with someone whose drunk [...] [they] decided to kick her off so she can [...] calm down.
To which someone else replied
I used to follow her TikTok (until I realized she is super annoying) and she is both a law student and is rather litigious in general. She’s involved in a variety of legal issues with her HOA (which was the story that initially got me to follow, admittedly but it’s no longer interesting).
I'm betting that this isn't the only person who's found her annoying and the HOA storyline now boring and she's lost followers, and this is her latest attempt to
recoup followersgrift.
Oh, sneaky!
