If I'm looking for who I'm voting for and saw:
Tried but failed to get school breakfast refunded.
Tried to troll Republicans with the Ant-Whacking bill.
Number 1 may have also failed to accomplish anything, but they spent their time in office at least attempting to do what they were elected to do.
This stuff feels like lame Ron/Rand Paul crap trying to make worthless votes look like they're actually principles. If this is the best use of time they can find, we're in trouble. They need to be out figuring out why they lost to literal criminals, not coming up with ways to "slam" them and doing their version of Steven Miller's searching out obscure old regulation to impede the burning of our rights and protections.
No one was posting in communities I cared about and many posts anywhere had 0 or 1 comments, so I started posting at least 1 thing every day and looking for threads with no comments where I could start the conversation. I couldn't wait forever for someone else to do it.
Now I have a ton of posts and comments, and I feel I have some good Lemmy pals and people tell me all the time they look forward to my posts, and it's just become something natural for me to do now.
I'm not sure if he lost or won. I remember even before the first term started he was shopping around for a VP that would actually do all the presidential work while he just took credit. This seems a lot like that. If things are unpopular, scapegoat Musk or some lackey. He burns all his subordinates.
Article 2: Impeachment from the House, conviction by 2/3 of the Senate and the Chief Justice.
14th Amendment: Removal for insurrection or rebellion against the Constitution. As it stands so far, would only prevent someone from running again. If someone has the means to have that tried now since he was convicted before the election, that'd be uncharted territory.
25th Amendment: VP and top 15 cabinet members declare the president unable to serve.
Other options of hand would be a coup by the military or citizens, a takeover from another country, censored from natural causes or otherwise, states could leave the union. I'm sure there's other things I'm missing.
If any of those options are possible or better than what we have now, I can't say. I feel things aren't bad enough yet for any of the less civil options to come off as the morally right option. Until he starts getting some more cases brought against him to see what type of laws do or don't apply to him, civil methods of resistance are still probably the best. If either side goes non-civil, it's going to make things way worse for everyone long before it makes it better, should the side you fall on be victorious. Lose, and it will probably be much, much worse.
Not publicly advocating any of these things, but I'm a hypothetical scenario, these would be my thoughts. 😇

I'm not sure how to judge if we've always been bad or not. Colonizing was big through most of our history. Perhaps all I can say, is we're bad at punishing the right people. We've refused to punish anyone with power, from the military killing natives and Mexicans, slaveholders, the Confederacy, the Business Plot, the Red Scare, segregationists, Nixon-Kissinger, Reagan-Bush Sr, and now our current leader.
We'll cross the world to crush someone, but we're afraid to punish our rich and powerful at home. That just lets the rot set in, and it's gotten to the critical level.
No, I agree with you. I put joke in quotes because his jokes are bully jokes like "maybe I'll have to run for a third term" where it's antagonist at best or a thinly veiled threat.
If the president wants to be a normal person now and then and add some humor, or especially some humility, that is a good thing. I feel it's important that a president is treated as an at least somewhat common man and not a ruler.
I don't think I'd enjoy the company of people that find Trump's humor to be funny.
With his reelection after all that happened, I didn't see how anyone could argue we aren't the bad guys. We've shat all over our own principles, and we aren't supposed to threaten our allies or citizens.
The "he's just joking" or "you're listening to him wrong" has never been an excuse. The president is not there to "joke." They have a responsibility to the American people. Not some, not even the majority, but all of us equally. It may have never done that, but it was supposed to be the goal.
They are dismantling all the things there for our protection with no replacement. They are threatening our allies for selfish reasons. It is clear who will benefit, and it is only the powerful and hateful. They would burn everything down for a dollar and feel no regret.
Ah, I understand now. My original intent was to say blahaj as a whole has been less alienating when compared to Beehaw. They have a pretty similar mission, but Beehaw has gotten itself pretty walled off from a good portion of the Fediverse to the point where they were talking about taking it somewhere else entirely.
Blahaj has done some things that people haven't liked, but its actions have been more in line with its existence in a federated environment.
No instance is going to be perfect, but instance admins are always going to set the house rules. I'm not going to say any more on the matter than I have only had good interactions with drag. I'm not trans, so I can't speak to his effect on other trans people, but I believe the blahaj admins are. Even trans people aren't going to always agree on everything, and that's when it's up to the admin to define what that line is with an issue.
While their decision doubtlessly pushed many away, I'm also sure they put a lot of thought into their decision on what they felt was good for their instance as a whole, and right or wrong, it's their decision to make. Some people I'm sure love them more for the choice they made.
I listened to both sides and I think I see where both groups are coming from. I think blahaj did right based on what I understand their goals to be. Drag is one individual and anyone who didn't like them could have simply blocked them and moved in with their lives, but so many had to confront them every time they popped up, which seemed like it violated their rules of respecting everyone.
No offense to the other replies, but I don't feel they're answering your question. While the ideal answer is to be yourself and not chasing trends, many people still want to look nice.
I think one of the perks of being male is that there is so much great style that is considered timeless. I'm not very fashionable, but I try to buy things that won't look dated anytime soon.

I took a moment to scroll Beehaw a bit after bringing it up. It's largely how I remember it, but the place feels much more tense than before, but I can't really fault them for that with the massive uptick in hate around much of the world.
If one wants a place like Beehaw, I agree there probably isn't a much better one out there.
I haven't checked out Beehaw in a while, but I used to enjoy spending time there. Some people didn't like it because of how heavily they curated their instance, but I really enjoyed how polite it was. It ultimately discouraged a lot of people from going there, which they saw as good, but most outsiders saw as bad.
As .world ramped up in volume, I had more and more to interact with here, and I ran out of time to be instance hopping so I haven't checked what they're up to lately.
Overall, blahaj seems to have done a better job doing something similar while not alienating people. But if you want to see a Lemmy instance that decided to take the route less taken, maybe give them a look.

Does them having an OF make what you originally enjoyed of them feel hypocritical? Like if they were for example promoting abstinence, some type of morality, or where they playing up their supposed innocence? Or is it more like, I thought this person wouldn't do something like this publicly? If they got banned for promoting their OF, did you miss it up until now? Or is this more like in the news where a school finds out a teacher has an OF and fires them when it doesn't have anything to do with their other gig?

People online are both real and fake, and my original comment tried to say that. I try to come off very polite and educational here. That's definitely a good part of the real me. But there's a lot more to me. There's a lot more than I won't always put front and center, but I'll open up if it's relevant, like all the terrible shit I did to people before I got medicated or from being raised by a kind of crappy family and I had no empathy for a long time. I still have a lot of difficulties, and while I can be a chronically depressed introvert with no ambition or self esteem, I can also be a positive and outgoing educator or comedian. They're both me. Sometimes I'm more one or the other or even both at once. T
his person you're talking about can be the same. They can be formal and proper or whatever the opposite of their OF persona is, and then do crazy extreme stuff in the OF context. They've understood and accepted those parts of themselves, and they're not only doing the one thing that caught your interest, but also another totally different thing for another group.
If you just take whatever time for you to process that both realities exist within that person, you will know if they're someone you still wish to follow or not.
