  • And how will they know if you're a fundie or not?

What they're doing is checking phones and social media. If they see you are a member of some antifa or BLM org, they'll get you.

So don't do those things via Facebook. Use meshtastic and hide your receiver.

But if you practice good OpSec and all they see is baseball, BBQ and church, then they won't be able to tell the difference.

  • Thanks for the effort post with great tips!

I would also really recommend having a physical community near you, not just online contacts.

I would even go so far as to say: join a progressive protestant church It's not a silver bullet, but the fascists in the US are Christian Nationalists and some of them will hesitate to mistreat a Christian. And some of them will feel an obligation towards a Christian.

This is a big part of why Martin Luther King wasn't killed earlier. The thugs in the 50s had no problem persecuting "godless heathens" in the McCarthy era, but black Christians were Christians.

And yes, they were also mistreated, but it would have been much worse if they had been atheist or communist.

Fascists divide the world very black and white. Us v. Them

Looking like them provides a survival advantage.

  • It is quite safe. What I heard about this case is that the victim was happy with the outcome.

They met at a party, she was drunk. He said he asked consent, she said he raped her. There was no evidence or allegation of force, just that she couldn't have consented in her drunken state.

    He had a clean record.

He got convicted and ordered to pay €3500 and if he commits another crime, then this one will count too.

She was satisfied with the outcome. She especially wanted recognition that it was rape.

I think this is a good outcome. If he ever rapes someone again, he'll be a serial rapist and get the book thrown at him.

And on the flipside, I find it difficult to throw the book at people under the circumstances in these kind of cases.

  • Genocide is not just about numbers. If the Bosnian genocide qualifies as a genocide, then Gaza definitely qualifies too.

In my view, the Gaza genocide is also worse than the Holocaust in many respects. For one, most Germans didn't know about, or support, genocide, nor did the Nazi's have any kind of democratic mandate.

Whereas in the US and Israel, this is the first time a democracy is committing genocide with popular support.

By all accounts, China isn't killing Uyghurs, but re-educating them.

  • The Uyghur genocide is better described as a cultural genocide, not a real genocide.

It is still awful, still bad. But it doesn't involve large scale murder and it doesn't meet the criteria used to qualify as a legal genocide.

In contrast, the Gaza genocide is definitely a genocide, as was the trail of tears.

  • I have only seen them online. I figure they are trolls or bots.

But I do think that China has a better human rights record than the US and Israel.

They are still evil in how they treat Uyghurs, Tibetans and democracy activists. They definitely use torture on dissidents.

But it's not that difficult to be better than slavery, genocide, war and colonialism. And the US and Israel also use torture.

So maybe I am the tankie that OP refers to.

  • Not all religions claim to know everything.

Yes, the ones that do tend to be violent and oppressive, so I understand the criticism.

But many religions are more about searching truth, learning to love each other and have community. And their followers definitely tend to be modest and have a "I don't know enough" mentality.

  • I would like to see it before I believe it.

Good luck though, hoping the Dems win.

(I am not a US voter, so I have no influence on the outcome)

  • They would immediately nationalize Microsofts Europe operations and the crack would be an official patch signed and released by Microsoft Europe.

    No sick ASCII art though.

  • Historically, incompetent authoritarians tend to resort to violence to retain power. (recent example: Maduro in Venezuela).

  • Yes and no.

For non-cloud stuff, the EU would quickly legitimize cracks that circumvent anything they would try.

For Cloud stuff, they can more easily turn that off, but then they would need to forfeit all their EU business and assets.

  • Tesla is indeed the exception.

  • Perhaps, but he does have a point.

Boycotts, protests, press articles and just public opinion in general used to be powerful tools to influence companies and politicians.

But they have lost their effectiveness, because companies and politicians have figured out ways to make themselves immune to boycotts and protests.

They have engineered society to make us all dependent and confused.

It used to be, every product in the supermarket had a smallish company behind it, and that company was very sensitive to public opinion. There was always competition ready to steal market share.

Now all the brands are just labels for a few giant corporations. You simply can't boycott them. If one brand becomes the target of a boycott, a different brand from the same or another multinational will get the money, perhaps through a store brand.

  • Agreed, this article would have made sense in 2020 or earlier.

And now we have the fediverse, which is causing a resurgence of content that is independent of Reddit or Discord.

  • Remember when Joe Lieberman basically mangled the ACA to ensure profitd for his insurance buddies?

    Pepperidge Farm remembers.

  • Good find. I am convinced Tesla is the Enron of our day.

The scheme only works as long as most people keep holding their stock. Once they start selling, it will be a very quick road down.

  • I'm pretty sure they were serious when they said 2024 was going to be the last election.

I predict a Republican supermajority in the midterms. They will just hack the voting machines or remove all democratic voters from the rolls.
